Do you think its kinda rude when some random person asks that stupid question of how much you paid for you car. I get asked it all the time at car shows and shit, and usually when its asked its not by one of the brightest individuals. I get really annoyed by it, and its not because I paid too much for my car or anything its just really no ones business how much I paid. I dunno maybe im just stupid.
I don’t have a mad phat ride… so I don’t get asked that.
I dont mind telling… at the time I got a hell of a deal
word, i dont think there is really anything wrong about it
some people are just curious cause are often looking to buy the same car
i only mind it, myself, when they then feel the need to tell you about one that was a wayyyyyyyy better deal. then it’s like, why’d you ask? so you could feel all in-the-know and then drive your cocky ass home in your escort?
some people are just totaly retarded tho
when i had my 68 chevy truck, i paid $650, it had a running 455 pontiac engine, it needed rocker panels, the bed was workable despite being for a dodge, great turbo-350 tranny, and all the wiring was operational
but somehow 650 was apparently a ton of money for a classic 3/4 ton truck
:gotme:
True, I guess it depends on whose asking
I guess what I meant to say is, that when people that actually have a clue about the automotive world ask then I dont mind
i have alot of pride in the hard work, time and effort it takes to purchase the nice things i have. so i dont get offended when someone asks how much i paid. i do get offended when someone hasnt had to work to get nice things and they look down on my things because its not as nice as theirs. money is a sensitive topic…everyone wants it…not alot of people have it. its better to treat it like religion and politics and just not discuss it.
it only pisses me off when i go to Northtown Dodge and 5 salesmen wak up to me as a walk out of the speedshop and ask me how much i paid for my truck and tell me that i should trage it in for something else. I overpaid for my truck and i knew that when i obught it. but u know what? i’ve been wanting this exact truck for about 2 years and i finally found it wasnt about to pass up the opportunity to buy it. so i figure it doesnt matter what the car is worth compared to what you paid for it, as long as its worth it to the owner thats all that matters.
using my corvette as an example. I don’t mind it when a younger kid who doesn’t know a whole lot about cars asks. He is just curious. Or if another corvette enthusiast asks. I guess the point im trying to make is, when its another enthusiast, or just out of curiosity/lack of knowledge…i don’t mind.
but when its just to spite you, or be an idiot. then i can see where its rude.
i don;t mind it too much myself…i did get a great deal on mine and with low miles too…so i don’t mind letting people know that…
my car is 1 of 6 in the country. I get asked what i paid on an almost daily basis. but first they usually ask “how the hell did you get it.”
i get so sick of saying the same thing over and over again. but im not one to be rude, so I usually oblidge.
i’m just not looking forward to this summer, when it has a drop and wheels and a kit and other attention-drawing factors. I’m sure I’ll get it even more.
when I pulled into the vintage races at watkins glen, my wagon filled with camping gear. literally JUST got in the grounds.
some dude comes running up to my car, like “WAIT WHO HOLD IT!”
I thought i ran over a baby or something
he runs up like “HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT CAR!!!” and proceeded with the typical inquiry.
he was from Grassroots motorsports, and still went bonzo when he saw my touring.
whatever, I guess before I had a touring I would do the same thing if I saw one
I think its in how you ask that dictates whether or not its rude/retarded…
for example:
-
Dude, this thing is sick, does it have nos? how much did you pay for it? = retard :cjerk:
-
Very clean car you have here, I really like what you have done with it, I am looking to purchase one myself and I am tryig to get a handle on the going market price, if you dont mind me asking…how much did you pay for it? thanks
Okay with me
agreed
My car was full of hoTT girls a few weeks ago, we pulled into a spot next to the Euro3, i said “Oh thats my friend Dre” Girls- “That car looks silly”
I kind of agree with Poopra because in his cas he did not buy the car like that. There was a LOT of time and money that went into that thing. When someone asks “how much did you buy it for” implies that it was bought as it sits and all ready to go. I would find that insulting and consider the guy a fucking douche bag,
people ask me all the time about my S10 and my Cobra, i simply reply, “i paid what it cost.” they look at me like ya-o k. If its a fellow enthusiast i will talk to emm about it but if its some tool just nosing around i give em my standard reply.
maybe the person asking is curious to see how much it would take to get a car to that level?
How much did you pay for that car?!? just playing
I usually jsut asked if they got a good deal, if they want to tell me how much they actually paid, then they will.
If someone asks you in a stupid way, answer them in a stupid way like, more than a doller, if they don’t get the hint proceed to pumble them.
bs, its been off the road for over a month.
lol.
to girls its probably just a station wagon. which is fine with me. to me, its a 175hp 175 tq 5 speed rwd car w/factory recaros that’s a blast to drive, i can haul all my shit, and still hit up auto x or track day and do quite well.
like i said this summer with the wheels and kit i’m sure it will get a lot more attention, but i dun really care
my car is for me; to drive
