I’ll just tell them the retail cost when it was new. Even tho that has no baring on what the car is worth nor is it what i paid for it. I don’t really mind.
Generally most people don’t know what a Firehawk is to begin with, so the question usually leads into what/how the car came to be.
I’ve been asked a few times by a few random people. I always say considerably less than what I actually paid for it becuase it makes me seem like I got a killer deal and am a smart shopper.
I just get mad at myself for paying so much for a car. lol I ask myself all the time “How much did you pay for that car ?” Then I just shake my head and pray for the 4 years to go fast.
I bothers me if it’s the Camaro because I hate to think of how much I’ve put into it! If it’s a current model car and someone asks, I assume they are not really asking how much I specifically paid, but more like “what’s one of those cost?” So, I say something like “they list for ~$xxx.”
id just stick with common sense, if u know the person well, who cares but dont ask random people…ive been asked a few times and it isnt anyones business…people were just trying to get hope that maybe they can have a poopra like u do
The only people who ask me are non-car people who don’t know how much Jetta’s go for so they’re just sincerely curious. They usually think it’s new because there’s not a spot of rust on it so I enjoy telling em I paid 10g for it in basically mint condition with 57k on the clock and I got heated leather seats, power sunroof, the big motor, heated side-view mirrors, etc for that when they’re usually the type of people who pay more for a stripped down american car just to get it new. Nobody hates when you got a nice practical DD for a great price.
My house on the other hand, I don’t like telling many people. Most people get jealous and pissy because I’m 23, the first of anybody I went to school with/grew up with to buy a house, have a bigger first house than my parents current house, graduated less than a year ago, have 4 bedrooms/2 baths on 1800ft^2 for me and 2 dogs and sometimes my fiance, etc etc etc.
There’s just too many haters so most of the time it’s just an inappropriate question because the person asking is likely to be a hater.
Bottom line is that only once in a while is it an appropriate question, and if there’s any doubt then it’s not an appropriate time/way to ask.
Yes, I think it is rude. I usually either respond with none of your business or, probably not what you think. Depending on who is asking, how they ask it. The real question shouldnt be how much did I pay for it, it should be how much have I put into it
ha you think you guys have it bad with your cars and one question. my bimmer was like Dres euro. million and fucking 1 questions for everyone. the best was always. “are you gay?” lol
