ASS Bash and Grab.

Sorry it took so long for me to get something up guys, but now that I’ve had a chance to beat the snot out of both of these ASS projects I wanted to post up a quick review.

I had a few incidents with cones and whatnot last year that led to some radiator damage a couple of times, fortunately these incidents didn’t end my day, but I needed to do something to be proactive about it. In addition to busting the rad up, those orange conical bastards destroyed all of the hard work BMW engineers put in to getting air flowing over the radiator, and where it needs to be, with all of the plastic underpanels. I was also getting sick of having to bash my arm on my seat every time I had to give the e-brake a whack, plus the distance between the shifter and e-brake made it really difficult to downshift from 3rd to 2nd while still trying to maintain angle with the e-brake.

Explaining all of these issues to Darryl, he was as always excited to help, and assured me “We can do that” as they say, gave me a rough quote, and I dropped the car off.

A couple days later, Darryl got started, and the pics rolled in. He kept me up to date on every step, and it began somewhere around here:

Looking sick already!

On the car:

Darryl later drilled through this, and added a nut and bolt to pin the bar in the sleeve for easy removal.

Getting the rad duct together:

Bar/duct on, bumper on test-fit:

I was going to spray it black, but decided it was way too pretty in raw form, so I had Darryl clearcoat it.

Then Darryl whipped up the dicktone grabber handle:

I took this pic to show how high it comes up in full extension, but really it locks the rear wheels at 60mph with about half of this motion, it’s almost too easy.

I picked the car up, and the final bill was considerably more than we’d talked about, but considering all of the work that went in to these projects I still got a great deal, and all-in-all I’m extremely happy with the end result.

Thanks again guys!

Looks sick Benny. That is a great idea to prevent cone damage.
Props to a.s.s.
