We just got a new roomate to move in and his lap top will not display any web pages when he logs on to our network. It shows that he has full bars and is connected to our network but when he opens internet explorer it says the page cannot be displayed. I have been on the phone with ativa’s help support 2 times today and they told to check the channel and make sure he is on the same one and also to turn off all of his fire walls and norton programs to allow the pages to display and still nothing. does anyone know what is going wrong or how we can fix it? thanks

no its disabled. i added him to the list and then enabled it but it still didnt work.
full bars and connected can mean he has really good strength and is connected to the router, not necessarily the internet. Make sure he has the right drivers for his wireless card, test it with ethernet also.

Perhaps he has all of his wireless network settings manually set inside of the Wireless Adapter properties?
Check that they are set to "Automatically… " and blank.
If he connects and he has a static setting for IP or DNS, that could be the cause.

When connected, open up a command prompt and type IPCONFIG /all
Please tell me the IP address, subnet, Default Gateway and DNS numbers.
Do the same on your computer and post those up as well. Let’s see if I can tell what is wrong by comparison.

Check your wireless settings on the router. If you are using G Enhanced or G-Speed Boost, etc some people might not be able to connect to with older wireless cards.
Make sure its set to basic b/g and that is it and see if it works. Also, make sure if you are using the default SSID, the guy doesn’t have a network connected to previously with it saved
