What building do you work in? Yes i’m in space products, we havnt slowed down at all, we keep hiring more people, i’m training two new guys in my department to expand our offshifts. I’ve been busy working every saturday and every other sunday OT as well as coming in and hour early every morning just to keep up with the workload. You need to some work with us joe
i find it ironic that billy derrick offered me a job, yet is doing waves of layoffs right now. sounds like the kind of job i want to jump right into…
I just tried to check my derrick email and couldn’t log in… I’m going to go out on the limb and say I spoiled the surprise.
LOL sucks
Contrary to your sig, I’d say its pretty cool to be Newman. Seeing as he still has a job at Derrick, and you don’t.
I’m in ICD (plant 11). Glad to hear you guys are busy. I was told Space is having its best year ever. But we have slowed down. I still am getting OT, but they cut us down a bit on it. I guess Aircraft had a little slow down also in some areas. You’re right, I do need to come work with you guys! If we get any slower, I’m going to start to worry.
Yeah I don’t think the layoffs affect the office staff as much as the plant staff. We’ll see tomorrow if I work at Derrick anymore. :picard:
about 2 hours left till we all get laid off…off to vinnys for a few drinks then to the unemployment office then to find an off the book job…gezz I have my whole day planned already
You can’t file for unemployment till the following week. Also do it online duck unemployment offices.
Lol…I’m gonna call during my break at school I guess :meh:
ur fucked… and im glad i spent my last hour at derrick drinking beers…what a way to go out
lol owned hard
use this time for the people that got laid off to go back to school and find a better job, this could be a blessing in disguise:grouphug:
+1
The numbers paint a sad story. Think of the market guys… We at Derrick have lost a good share of the market, due to our success in the oil field.
With the market in turmoil, there is no saying how long this sort of thing will go on. In six months, if the market picks up, everyone could have their jobs back.
It is the nature of the beast people. No one wants to layoff employees but you can’t drag the entire company down, for the sake of compassion.
Demand drops, production slows, not as many people are needed.
Best of luck to everyone!
As previously mentioned, use this as an opportunity to better one’s self. Go back to school, volunteer, run a marathon, or finish up all those little things on your car that you have been meaning to!!
(Fabes we actually have an email problem, so you may still have a job.)
So how many got laid-off?
135 in the shop, 30 in the office.
A little low blow there champ, don’t ya think?
um I am not giving any specific numbers or departments but the total thus far is at about ~45% or ~300 people
Anything going in with all this in Houston?
Yes about the same percentage.
that sucks guys, good luck…
