by no means this is an attack on biker i am one ( have not had a bike in while but that wil some change snky snky ) But if you are a true “Biker” and have been to a track and ripped it up public road are not fun… just a way to get to point A to B. ride safe and if you dont Darwin will have his way with you and insurance rates will have thier way with the “safe people”.
let me know when this happens i will pick up the chage for gas $$$$… and if you keep doing i will follow as loooooong as you keep thorwing the $$$$
:bsflag: A safe rider will never utter these words. The moment you deny responsibility for what happens to you on the road is the moment you need to get off your motorcycle.
Ok a bike goes weaving in and out of traffic…I have to slam on my brakes and get rear ended and hurt…Yeah bikers are more prone to injury…thats why they should be EXTRA safe…no riding down the center line and doing wheelies at 180mph in traffic.
ever go on a groupride? that will change your mind. but tup to track days, I’m signed up for a couple already. and it’s nice cause everyone rides the pace, so no speeding, just taking turns at speed.
and yes its dumb and dangerous I’ll admit, but c’est la vie
I call BS on your :bsflag:
I’ve heard of a few and seen at least one accident were the rider had absolutely no chance of avoidance. They were not riding irresponsibly or doing anything stupid. The driver that caused it simply wasn’t paying attention/didn’t see the bike.
Yes… a safe, responsible rider would rarely utter those words, but there is always that one chance in a million. The same goes for anyone on the roads, whether they are riding a motorcycle or driving a car.
that’s bullshit. when brian got killed he didn’t even have a change to pull his brake lever. that fucking sonofa bitch in the fucking jeep couldn’t take the fucking time out of their fucking day to turn their head 90 degrees to the left and pulled out right in front of him.
And what makes you think that bikers have the right to take others LIVES into thier own hands?
One month ago, I watched some moron driving down the 33 in the center lane, in the middle of rush hour. He stood the bike up for about a half mile, and brought it down with a nice wiggle. Had he gone down, he was taking out about 20-30 cars with him. It’s fucking bullshit, if you do this shit in traffic, YOU DESERVE WHATEVER COMES TO YOU.
This is not every rider by any means, but if you take offense to what I say, I can only assume you are one of these riders, since they are the only ones I have a problem with.
Anyone here ever spent significant time studying rider safety? Attend any safety training schools? Grow up surrounded by family members each with 20+ years riding experience?
Think what you will, there is never a time when I will ever feel that there is nothing I could have done. As a streetbike rider, you must not just accept but INSIST that you are fully responsible for your own safety. From space cushioning to having your brake covered at all times in traffic to simply not riding when you’re not in the right state of mind, you have to understand that you alone are responsible for your own safety and survival. Nonetheless, I understand that accidents and tragedies will happen, but in order to avoid them you have to understand that you are never at the mercy of your situation.
Coldaccord, please do not take offense. I am not trying to claim in any way that your friend’s death was his fault, nor any less of a tragedy than it truly was.
Funny, but if someone ever did that to me, you would have to deal with alot more than pennies in your face from me…
EDIT: But I guess it was always a good thing that I tried very hard to NEVER do it with a bunch of cars around…
Pulled from Wera…
On March 30, 2006 Jess and Lisa Vreeland were killed while on their 2003 Aprilia Mille when a young, inexperienced driver turned left in front of them. Jess and Lisa where killed instantly and pronounced dead at the scene. The young couple left behind three young children, a 9yr old son, 4yr old son and a 3yr old daughter. Not only was Jess an Aprilia rider and fan but also a volunteer fireman for the Alpha Vol. Fire Dept. in Alpha, NJ. Lisa was an active member in the ladies aux. for the dept. In the wake of all this, a foundation has been started to help their children financially. As of now, Jess’s mother has claimed temporary custody of the children. She is a devoted and loving grandmother and plans on taking full custody of the children when granted by the courts. So the ADM Foundation has started a trust for the children and is having the 1st Annual Vreeland Charity Ride and Auction set to take place on July 15, 2006. The ride is starting at Rollin’ Fast Cycle Sports in Lebanon, NJ. If we could as a whole pull together and help this family out, it would mean the world to them and everyone that knows these great kids and who knew Jess and Lisa.
For more info on the ride or to make a donation, you can call the ADM Foundation, Inc. @ 908-213-8900 or e-mail them - admfoundation@yahoo.com or contact me GSBrdr
yea, doing that stuff in traffic is stupid, but I’m just saying there are a ton of accidents and deaths that aren’t avoidable, because cagers just don’t look.
i’ve taken msf, read TOTR I and II and have the dvd, i try to ride very safe, etc. but even with scanning, always having an out, checking your mirrors when stopped at a light, always being ready to brake 100% and all that, stuff still happens that’s unavoidable.
are you talking about dominic that delivered for dominos in the red subaru? i used to work with him. that dude was cool as hell. i felt so bad for his mom, seeing that he was her only child.
biker dudes, please be careful.
