It had 1/4 tank last night, I drove it around and ran great. Started it this morning just fine. drove 30 miles to work parked it. no problem. jumped in it a few hours ago to go to the deli and it started fine, but started to stall out. CEL poped up for a sec. Sounds like I am down a cyc. First question, being I cant pop the hood (release is broken) I could take a peek until i get some plyers. Are these motors plugs and wires or individual coil packs?
here is whats odd too. I go to restart it after it stalls out, and if coughs and cranks and cranks. nothing. I cycled the ignition and can hear the fuel pump turn on and prime. I primed it a few more times and it fired up but I had to keep matting it to keep it going. I think maybe I am outa gas! lol or now there is a little water in it or it is not picking up fuel.
Lunch time I am going to throw 5 gals and a bottle of drygas in and give her hell.
If you were low on gas you may have moisture in the gas lines now. I never go below half a tank in the winter.
Go buy some dry gas and see if that works.
Yeah I am crossing my fingers it was low/wet gas. I dumped half a bottle of Heet (red bottle) into 2.5gal of fresh gas and threw it in the tank. Ill let it sit for 3 horus or so and give it a shot on the ride home.
LKSi, thanks for the igntion setup help. If it makes it home, ill throw some plugs and wires at it as well.
PS: this turd came with some sweet ass $800 special 18’s. Black and polished FTW. anyone want them for $200 with tires?
it depends on what year focus it is. the original 2000-2004 models were plugs n wires. the NEWER 2005-present models switched to a coil on plug design.
Well it is alive again. I dumped in the gas/dry gas and it fired right up, I just got back from the gas station. Run like a champ again.
I am thinking I was out of gas. The gauge was a full needle’s width befor the E line. If it was/is correct this will be the first car I every drove that wont bury the needle below E!
what year focus is it? the early model years 00-02 had serious fuel pump failure issues. there is a “factory warranty amendment” that covers free replacement of the fuel pump IF it has never been changed and falls in a certain vin pattern… check into that.

Ran great today… infact I ran directly into a snowbank at 40 and rested it right on top just like that Neon on the thruway was a few weeks back! lol. tires suck and I pushed a right hand turn down a steep ass hill. It was fun. Now I am missing slightly more of the front bumper. Ahh thats what winter cars are for i guess.

EDIT… just got the OK to bring it in for a free fuel pump and what not! I cant wait to roll this clunker in and and say “Gimmy my free parts bitches!”
