ATTN: geehee, or other VZW reps...please explain

I know these upgrade posts are a PITA for you to answer, but I have a question about an upgrade eligibility announcement.

I have a 2 year plan, on which my line is the primary. I have had my phone for >1 year and so I am eligible for an upgrade. screenshot of vzw website:

I’ve been holding off for a new phone too see what CES brings to the table. Then today, I see this:

So, is my upgrade eligibility going to go out the door on Jan 16th? Then I’ll have to wait until July. Boy will I be mad if I am forced to wait until July. I might just wait until my contract is up and drop down to a 2-year plan. I can’t go 20 months between phones. Way too much of a nerd for that.

Yeah can I get on the “new every six months” plan? :). I get an eBoner for every new android phone I see.

Check your contract. If its in your contract with your upgrade policy, you can hold them to it. They cant change an already agreed upon contract so if you signed a contract that says upgrade plan is 12 months and they changed it mid contract, call them and tell them they violated it.

If there is nothing in your contract your SOL.

Just my $0.02 in dealing with Verizon.

first I’ve seen of this. Then again i have no spare time to waste on phone nerd forums anymore.

so I just logged in and took the training. Funny how there were no emails about this one…

Yea, looks like annuals are going away after the 16th. Dont slit your wrists yet, I’ll see what sort of recourse we have…

you’ll still be good. it wont go away until 6 months after, new customers wont be eligible.

however if you do upgrade next time you’ll have to wait the full 20 months.

Yeah I saw that droid life got some more info on it. I think I might just wait and drop the plan to a 1 year contract.

Moar:

  1. All customers who activate / upgrade on a qualifying plan prior to January 16th, 2011 are enrolled in NE2 (New Every 2) and eligible to use the NE2 discount for up to six months from the date they become eligible.

  2. Any customer who uses an NE2 credit or Annual Upgrade after January 16, 2011 will no longer be eligible for either program. On March 6, 2011, VZW systems will be updated to reflect this.

  3. All customers who exercise the NE2 or Annual Upgrade option on or after January 16th will receive a letter notifying them that it was their last NE2 or Annual Upgrade.

  4. Business customers continue to receive either the two-year corporate matrix tiered device pricing or two-year retail device pricing per contract.

  5. Customers will now be eligible for promotional pricing after 20 months on a 2-year contract and 10 months on a 1-year contract.

yeah, that’s the updated info that was posted at droid-life.com

You need to be eligible for the annual upgrade before the 16th in order to take advantage of it.
