ATTN: IT Professionals

People are always saying there are no jobs in pittsburgh for IT. Well Expedient is looking for quite a few people now. Check out the job listings at http://www.expedient.com/company/careers.htm. Its a good place to work and a good opportunity to learn!

My friend is head of the IT department for Maronda Homes Inc, I will send him the link, he is always bitching about Maronda, so he may be interested.

Its not really that there are NO IT jobs but there are not an abundance of Good Paying IT jobs. Everyone is looking for entry level usually which don’t pay crap.

copy and sent to my ex g/f she has been doing IT for a company that does the mobile carts that you use at shopping centers and the hydralic lift lazy boy chairs for over 5 years now. so hopefully she will move from the sticks (north of scranton) to pgh…

Entry level jobs pay decent, no 50k like they told you in college. but i mean an entry IT job anymore is like an interview. they want to see if you are really good, or just book smart. Its fun watching the noobs get weeded out!

Hey they told me 50K GUARANTEED in college, WTF?

You were tellin me about this the other day whitey… you have any idea what they’re starting at?? I’m pretty sick of being stuck on a 3ft leash all day. I don’t mind starting in phone support but I wanna get into a place where I can move into different areas.

I have no clue what the starting wages are for each position. There are different variables that come into play, ie education and experience. This company believes in promoting within, I started in the TAC just three years ago. And I have definitely moved up in the company! Bobby311 on here started in the TAC as well, and he is also an engineer now.

So they let alot of people go or they are growing?

Have any of you guys/gals taken the A+ certification? I work for a data shop and I have been asked to take over IT responsibilities. Our HQ is out of Troy, NY and we are an office of about 10 people here in monroeville. Our network is already setup but they are looking for me to be able to support the infrastructure here. They want to pay for me to go to training at riverhead downtown for A+ cert.
Just wonderin how tough it is. I have been around/worked with computers roughly 10yrs.
Thanks

with 10 years exp. A+ should not be difficult.

growing!

Riverhead is one of our customers actually, so i am familiar with the company. If they are going to pay for it, i say take it. Usually I see a cert as a waste but if its on them, who cares!

Pittsburgh also has a lot more people battling for those few great jobs. I love working in IT, but not the programming or networking aspect. They really didn’t have what I was looking for.

what are you talking about??? there are hundreds of jobs… i have email after email of open job postitions in pittsburgh… there are hundreds!!!

i don’t understand why people say that stuff?? i work for a top ten computer company and i’m working in the shithole known as oakland… there are jobs EVERYWHERE… and tons of employment opportunities

expedient is a cool place… i would encourage anyone to go there if they have a job that fits…

x2! I get offered jobs quite a bit from my current customers! They are always looking for good people!

what kind of jobs are you getting offered? what positions?

Mainly offered positions as a system admin, or a dedicated windows person that might only work on a specific product ie SQL or Exchange.

i’m a consultant… so any consulting work… and then full time work, network admin, systems admin, active directory engineer, project implementation engineer, windows engineer, linux / unix / VMware admin…ect

typically they just clump whatever job they have open under ‘systems admin’ then list the particulars they want… … i’m serious… tons of jobs.

DBA’s and Exchange admins are another whole different realm of jobs as are any datacom people, mainframe, and application specialists…

like fshowcars said… there’s plenty of IT/IS work if you are a qualified applicant and know the right people.

but that entry level is tough to break into it.

You ain’t lying, then when you get in they wanna pay you with peanuts… I cannot complain about Comcast, good company and the best pay/benefits of anywhere I interviewed, but it’s all phone based unless I’m a field tech gettin’ shook down when I’m disconnecting cable in the hood. So I gotta examine my options.

thats an understatement.

You know your company is on the up when a new customer drops more then I get payed a year for one month of services with you.

Congrats on the promotion you homo. Im still going to pester you bc its funning watching you bitch.
