Audi TT starter location?

My cousin’s 2001 TT (1.8t quattro) supposedly blew the starter. I haven’t taken a look at it yet, but I’m trying to get some insight on where it might be, and what all may be involved with replacing it, if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated.

right on the tranny… a couple bolts and a couple wires… shouldn’t be too tough. i bet his battery is dead… they require high CCA to crank…

I’d def look into the battery before replacing the starter.
