Audio Bros, come here a min.

So I want to upgrade the 6x9 speakers in my Tsx. Bought some Polk DXi690 and dont think the stock headunit/amp is going to push them. I bought Metra 72-7800 adapters, as I do not want to be cutting any stock wires. I want to integrate a small amp, looking at JL XD200/2(unless there are better options in a small amp, speakers are 300w max)

Can I run stock speaker harness to the high pass input(right?) on the amp and use another set of the adapters to send the output to the speakers? I know I have to run power and ground seperatly, but otherwise would that work? I am pretty much complete n00b at stereo.

(Stock Rear Speaker Harness->Metra Adapter->Amp High Pass/Amp Out->Speaker) That should work right. I feel like I am making this way more complicated than it has to be lol

you can do one of two things:

use speaker-level inputs (if the amp has them) straight off the speaker wires.

Use a line-output converter to drop the speaker level output (ie the speaker wires) to line level (aka low inputs aka RCA cables), and then just run RCAs into the amp. This will work even if he amp does not have speaker level inputs (often referred to as "high inputs)

Bring it to Audio Obsessions and let them deal with it.

You can hook directly into the high (speaker level) inputs if the amp is equipped (that one is not). I wouldn’t recommend that amplifier as it’s a Class D. I would recommend a Class T if you want digital (tripath chipz ftw) or an analog class a or a/b. Class D is better suited for driving subwoofers, honestly.

But yea, as Phate said – you can also use a line-level converter if the amp does not have high inputs. You can either tap the harness at the head unit, or at the rear deck in either case.

Kbye.

I was thinking these JL connectors to the Metra connector, so I am not hacking anything. I really only picked that JL amp quick because its so tiny 7"x7"x2" but maybe a different amp is a better choice then? I do not want a large amp as I cant really sacrifice the trunk space/utility. Also where is good to buy that, or similar amp from JDaniels? I only use Crutchfield to spec stuff, then wait for a deal on egay or similar lol I am a fan of JL and Boston Acoustics, as that is all I have really owned, besides a set of ARC Audio 6x9 and old Lightning Audio. Miss G8S Audio lol

What about this one, has a direct speaker level input, so I wouldnt need the JL adapters; Boston Acoustics GTA-602
