Audio Communications in Pittsburgh

So, i got the computer in and working last weekend. i took the visor and LCD to audio communications [which quoted 130$ over the phone], as per a recommendation on another site. after standing there for 1 hour i got to talk to the master fabric guy there. he said that he didnt have anything in the visor he could mount to since it was kinda flimsy so he would have to fab a back plate. that would be another 100$. FINE! more than i wanted to spend but fine… then he asks me if i want it to look nice. what the fuck is that? of course i want it to look nice, well then he said thats another hour of work so thats another 60$.

so, they tell me 4 hours [its 9am on tuesday] and theyll give me a call this afternoon when its done. 7.30p i havent heard from them so i call. well they couldnt get to it today but will have it done tomorrow as it is there priority. today [4 days later] i havent heard back from them so i called them at 10am. Well, john at the front desk is completely unaware of this. he cant find the work order and needs to call mike who worked that day and was the guy at the counter. he’ll call me right back.

i just called them again and he tells me that he cant find my visor or LCD, no one there has heard anything about this and mike isnt returning their calls. I will NEVER take anything to audio communications again. i think that i have been MORE than willing to compromise and patient about this as i havent raised my voice a bit.

but to be honest, i dont know if im going to get this today or even over the weekend. if no one there is aware of this they are obviously not working on it at all.

as a suggestion to all of you… dont go to audio communications.

haha, yeah it’s not as good as it used to be. My ex-boyfriend worked there for awhile, and I knew some of the other guys that worked there and they were all assholes. The owner (Steve) is an OK guy, but is known for fucking over his employees.

Good luck getting your shit back.

You need to drive out there today and declare, “I’m not leaving until it’s done!”, then chain yourself to the closest permanent fixture, open a cooler, and start eating a sandwich.

heh, seems to be common practice with a few stereoshops in this area. Should have posted up on here first for a recomendation.

this place was actually recommended. im gonna give a call back in a bit and if they still make no claims of having my equipment prolly take a cooler with a sandwich.

just as a heads up i wouldnt suggest anyone goes there.

What where they doing? wireing what? 2 visor lcd`s and a in dash? the visors are simple. the indash i dont know about that

its all easy work…there are tons of DIY visor installs on line. Just get your shit back and do it yourself.

they finally they found my equipment… didnt call to let me know but when i called them again they said they had it. appearently they have not started working on it yet. originally they wanted me to leave my car… however i didnt trust them much so just left the visor. i told them to have it out that counter and is show up by 5.

there excuse ended up being… we never told you we would have it done. we told you we would do it when we got around to it… is this anyway to run a business?

if anyone knows where i can get this done for around 100$ or works at a place that will do it for around that id be willing to pay. but audio communications ended up wanting 300$ which i think is a bit outrageous. i dont need any wiring done either… ive already finished… i just need it inset in the visor.

if not i think im gonna try and do it myself this weekend. its just 1 in the visor LCD. i think ill be able to manage it without butchering it up too much.

What a fucking joke of a shop…at least you got your visor/LCD back without having to call the cops.

Wow sorry to here that. Its funny though cause i was just up at AC.

id like to thank everyone for suggesting first-bass. chaz did a great job on the visor. his turn around time was one day and he seemed most concerned about pleasing me. BELIEVE IT OR NOT HE DIDNT EVEN LOSE MY EQUIPMENT!

id like to thank chaz again… im very happy with the work he did.

p.s. he charged me 240$ less than what audio communications asked and the finished product was by far superior. ill be going back for anything else i need done.

Awesome! Glad to hear you got your stuff done, done right and quick and for a good price. PICS!

pics would be a great idea, i totally forgot to take before and afters.

The last guys who did the work found a headrest monitor, and a customer who wanted to install it into a visor.

Basicaly a 2.5" thick item, into a 1.25" thick visor.
apearantly that was a problem.

so without pics i’ll describe what was and now is there.
The screen was velcrowed to the out side of the visor with a large hole behind it, a back plate was not fabricated and in fact became a 2" long radio strap with 2 1"x1" blockes of 3/8" mdf to mount a centered screw to the screen.

Im really not one to talk down on anybody elses work, im just simply describing exactly what was done when i recieved the piece.

All i really did was flush mount the screen and build up the visor to accomodate the thickness of the screen.

I want to thank Sly/Marion, for allowing me the oppurtunity to show him my work and for being such a pleasnt customer to work for :bigthumb: and especially for the plug!! thanks alot Marion, hope to work for you again soon!!
