Like I said, everyone would have to agree on a format for the posts. As I said above; a link to the source, highlighted segments from the news (not just a copy of the entire article, etc.) and an area for their own interpretation. That’s my suggestion.
The idea is to inform and to spark discussion.
Both if you want. If you’d like to add a write-up, (maybe with background / history of the subject) that would be great
There are many more sources out there for auto news than just the cable news channels. My idea of finding two different people with two different mindsets would mean they wouldn’t (by design) be looking for the same news and as a result, wouldn’t post the same news. Keeping the number of reporters to 2 would keep the news more interesting and of higher quality IMO. (less competition to find news, less posting of useless / repetitive news.)
Sorry Jon, but 2 people with unbiased opinions will either post the same information (repetition) or not post news that might be biased simply because they want to stay unbiased.
I think this is a terrific idea. And I think this is a good way to set it up. Also, if a certain member wants to start a new thread they can PM one of the two people (or a moderator) to start a thread and give them credit.
It will prevent reposts and such. I guess if it were well moderated reposts could be taken care of anyway (but it would be much neater if certain people could start threads, only).
I know of a few good sites for automotive news, so if I’m not one of the chosen members then I can POSSIBLY get over feeling bitter about not being considered an esteemed automotive news broadcaster and disclose my sources.
And that does mean I’d be more than willing to help upkeep that section with new news. Keep in mind it tends to come in spurts, and the section could go a week or two without anything groundbreaking.
edit: whoops what happened
id like a section to go to read about a new skyline gtr coming to the states or a new muscle car coming out that resembels the ones of the 60s and all that crap annd not reading thru useless posts and drama that normally follows…just the articles
Well…well…I think a discussion about the post/news is an integral part considering this is a discussion forum. The articles are usually at the top of the page, so if you didn’t want to read the drama you could just choose not to read it.
Maybe there should just be a stickied thread where the auto news websites show up as links. Then if someone wants to read the auto industy info they can get it directly from the author. All this cutting and pasting from other sites seems kind of lame.
You’re just upset because I don’t like what you do.
News papers are a completely different medium that are able to save costs for the consumer by getting storys from news services like the AP. The internet however, has all to news one could ever want a couple clicks away.
