I worked in a mall for years. Was friends with a lot of different managers. Most stores had a policy stating that unless it was over $500 you just let the people walk out.
I was a Sunglasshut manager from 02-05 and customers could literally take glasses put them in their pocket in front of you and you weren’t even allowed to call security unless it was over $300.
My friend at Spenser’s was fired (after 3 years as manager) because he watched some take a $50 item out of the store and left the store and told them he saw it and to put it back. The person called corporate and he was fired
That’s true. Though I would probably fight back if my life or somebody else’s life was in danger. There’s no sense in losing your life for someone stealing shit from anywhere, but if you have a feeling you’re not going to make it out alive unless you act immediately… then you might consider some form of action.
right when the robber says go to the back room i would have done the same thing. i would give the guy money all day but if he wants me to do something its another story. everyone should have the right to protect their person and the people around them from harm. we should not get punished for protecting
if this guy was a local i would hire him. he is qualified for the dont fuck with him section.
and i think just corp policies are like this protect the big wigs and take from the people. the last thing i should be thinking of when trying to protect myself and others would be “oooo i might get fired”
I would have done the same thing. Why take the chance and assume the robber would leave witnesses, not a chance I’d be willing to take.
I know that times are tough and jobs are hard to come by, but if I were this guy, I’d try to find a place to work that wouldn’t fire people for bullshit reasons, rather than try to fight for a job with a company that obviously doesn’t care about their people.
