I see. Well, hopefully all goes well on the 18th. :lol
AWD drivetrain loss is just outrageous, like tinting a windshield for instance.
:lol
I kinda want to tint all of my windows 50% haha. Fuck tempered 70%
I bet it goes fine… as long as you get a clean pull :lol
I know this is m45 but…
edit - here is a m35 dyno thread - sure enough it looks like one guy needed it to be completely disabled
All the parts and tuning are prolly still cheaper than the ring alone haha.
Sometimes the only way to completely disable TC on cars is to pull(IE disconnect) the wheelspeed sensors. However that can sometimes trip a limp mode. I do not know this car well enough to state any facts about that working though.
Not even close. Ring is worth $5,500. I didn’t spend even half that (on the ring). Parts will cost much less.
Precisely my point. You were gonna spend it anyway so now by spending less it’s allllmost as if you’re being paid to tinker on your car haha.
I think after the exhaust, coilovers, and tuning/dyno’ing I’ll be about 3k. But I may get the coilovers WAY later.
As for the dyno…
I’ll probably just crash the system as stated (turn VDC off and then immediately try to do a donut from a hard stop). I’ve done that in the snow and have seen all the lights come on. Everything goes back to normal after a restart.
I did it in this video:
Dude don’t get a MEGAN exhaust. They are fucking horrible in terms of quality.
They are fine. I due a LOT of research on products before I buy them. Many people have ran them on the NICO board and had zero problems.
Ehh I don’t know about that. lol
Plus, I don’t want some ricey or V8 sounding exhaust. I want something as OEM as possible as far as sound goes and that’s about as close as it gets.
I had an “EBay” exhaust on my Maxima for like 3 years with zero issues. Sounded like poo after a while, but the quality was fine.
I’d just leave the stock exhaust on there. Megan is pretty much an ebay exhaust in terms of quality. I had one on my car back in the day and it was a huge piece of shit. It got “good reviews” too and had an “OEM sound.” In reality, it sounded like a bag of drunk ass bumble bees and it didn’t fit right.
I dunno man. After I’m done with my plans for the engine (lower plenum, spacer, and intake tubing - nothing major) and exhaust it will sound like this:

I think it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Your car is not that different from my G35 and don’t get a Megan exhaust. If you as close to OEM as possible get a borla or nismo. I know more than 99% of people on here about VQ35 cars PLEASE take my advice. You are on point with the lower plenum, spacer, and etc but Megan is garbage. You pay for what you get. I spent over 7k on my G with good and bad parts. And back to the UpRev tune. I highly doubt synapse has ever installed UpRev software or worked on many infinitis. Not saying they don’t know there shit about cars or how to tune but putting your Infiniti in the hands of someone that has little experience if any with UpRev is stupid IMO. Go to a reputable tuner who knows there shit about M or G’s.
Its a luxury sedan, just do wheels, drop and be done with it :lol
Borla or Nismo? Neither of those have EVER been installed on an M from all of my scouring of NICO (name never came up in my searching at least). Most people get HKS, Megan (by far the most common - which is why I think I would have heard if it was trash), Stillen, Greddy etc. The only other OEM like name I’ve heard thrown around is some Fujitisubo Legalis R exhaust. I only have two requirements (not loud, but still nicely flowing, and similar tips to stock (4)). The Megan fits this perfectly…and at $300 for the muffler (see the edit below)…I don’t care if it doesn’t like 10 years. I’ll change it in 4-5 if I need to.
As for the tuning…no, Synapse isn’t tuning it. That was just mentioned. I’m smarter than letting someone who isn’t certified by UpRev do an UpRev tune :lol.
I will be paying $500 for the cable and software, will datalog myself, and then send it back to UpRev for them to build my tune. Then I’ll just flash it to the ECU myself. I trust them (as they are the ones who created the software :lol) and it’s cheaper this way (instead of driving who knows how many hours and paying $600+labor that most shops want). This $500 includes 3 future updates…my initial tune will include the spacer, lower plenum, and z tube. I will eventually add the exhaust and have them do an updated tune. And that’ll be that.
EDIT: I was just informed that I don’t need the mid-pipe as it’s only for HP gains. Most of the restriction in the M exhaust is in the mufflers…so that’s all I’ll be doing as I couldn’t care less for HP really. If it’s a byproduct of a mod I install to open it up, then fine (like the plenum), but otherwise I’d be fine with the stock HP.
Either way, the exhaust isn’t happening until my OEM one falls apart. So…it may be a while still.
I didn’t know luxury cars were excluded from simple mods that help ‘open them up’ such as exhausts and certain types of intakes. :facepalm
Drop is in the works too. BC Coilovers.
I highly doubt any decent tuner can hurt a stock NA engine with a tune. That would take skill. I don’t think even Redline has manged that…
