anyways… i thought those first chevy commercials were reasonable ads to put on American television to hustle a few car sales.
On another note, 116,000 kilometers on our Kia Rondo, bought new, and we’re still on the original brakes with no other repairs other than sway bar endlinks. No signs of slowing down either. Quite happy with it and would consider a Kia next time around for the wife… however, i think we’ll look at a current model Ford Edge since they’re rad.

Ps I drive a NUMMI car everyday, if you don’t know what that is, look it up. It is less than thrilling, but def better than a cavalier. Sad that NUMMI is no more
Someday people will care more about buying quality automobiles with innovative technology more than they care about buying American. When that happens, GM and Chrysler/Dodge will go broke…
The totalled 2002 volvo in my driveway still has a better paint job then the 2011 rental chevy malibu it is sitting next to. Hell even my e30s have a better paint job :).
Most car companies started making good 10 ft paint jobs to save money.
I like the commercials. It’s funny though how they talk about how tough and gritty the cars are because they’re from Detroit, but really the cars are built in Canada and Mexico like you said, and the company is run by an Italian metrosexual named Sergio. Oh the irony!
Just seeing this thread now, hilarious. I can’t remember the last time I actually laughed from something I read on a forum.
I actually want a Hyundai now, that V8 Genesis is going to be sweet.
And the great news is that since Hyundai’s depreciate faster than a hot lunch, I’ll be able to scoop one up really cheap in about 18 months.
not exactly true anymore, on the leases the elantra/sonata and genesis have some of the highest residuals in their class because they wont really depreciate. Also Hyundai really cut back on fleet/rental sales so no more flooding the marker and auctions with those.
Look at what used 11-12 sonatas are selling for $19-20k they were $20-21 brand new! Same with the genesis not really depreciating all that much. Not as much as say bmw, audi and mercedes.
So following up with this thread, the new commercials are a million times better. Sure, it doesn’t advertise a specific car, but it accomplishes exactly what the first batch of commercials failed horribly at:
