ECL Section 11-0511 and Regulations 6 NYCRR Part 180.1. Briefly, a wolf-hybrid is defined as “dangerous wildlife” in New York. A license is required to import, possess, transport or export a wolf-hybrid. Licenses are only issued for scientific, educational or exhibition purposes provided that the licensee has an Animal Welfare Permit from USDA. Licenses are not issued to possess a wolf-hybrid as a “pet.” Part 180.1 further describes certain prohibited animals as “any animal, the overall appearance of which makes it difficult or impossible to distinguish it from a wolf (Canis lupus) or coyote (Canis latrans).”

fucking a i want wolfdogs! i want to call my house wolfdog ranch and have parents threaten to send their bad children there.
Me neither. My best friend has a wolf mix, but she looks A LOT like a wolf. He’s never had any issues when bringing it to the vet in NYS.

There is no test currently available that will differentiate a hybrid from a dog or a wolf. Animal control agencies often must rely solely on the word of the owner in determining whether or not an animal is a wolf hybrid. Recently developed techniques, such as genetic probing, hold some promise as possible methods of identification, but no work is currently being done with regard to wolf hybrids.
So just say she’s a white sheperd/traditional shepherd mix.

Our vet didn’t say a word last week. we’ll see as she ages… momma bitch has the snout, and a tendency to show er fangs at new threats. But, just in case … changed, and adapted going fwd. :snky:
