Ok. I dyno’d my car. I have a b18b1 in my civic. 142hp at crank. Says honda. I Have short ram intake, Full exhaust, Dc header 421… thats all power wize. Well remote coil but that doesnt really help much. The dyno results that i have is 116whp. Best run. Sound right?? How can i get that up to 140 ?? On the dyno sheets as soon as i hit 6200rpm’s. My engine shut down to like 40tq and 72whp . Dropped alot. How can i fix this shit without breakin the bank… NITRIOUS IS NOT AN OPTION. Daily driver
First off, i’d be glad you don’t have a subaru, my car is rated for 135hp dyno is in my sig.
Second, A VTEC head swap and rev it to 8000rpm. Being that i’m not a honda guy, that’s about the limits of what i know about that.
edit You’ll never really know how much you gained or didn’t gain on the dyno since you don’t have a baseline with the stock motor. I wouldn’t worry about it. If i had to guess, you’d have had about 106whp stock. Speednations dyno is closer to 25% loss vs crank numbers on a stock car.
I know it wont help the hp numbers. But when we did 1/4 run it said 15.9 . I am running 15’s. If i change rim size like go back to the stock 13’s for the Vx will that help at all ??
I was guessing you went to the SpeedNation dyno since you’re from the Bridgeville area. I think mustange dyno’s read a little lower than dynojets, if that matters. Could be wrong, though.
What size collector and what size exhaust? If their both CARB exempt they probably bottle neck before and after the cat. Not really a power making set-up so 2 - 5whp sounds about right.
The VX wheels are probably lighter, maybe even have a smaller outer diameter… might make the car a little quicker.
A B16 tranny would really wake that motor up. That’s the first thing I would do.
VTEC head. Nitrous is fun on daily driver. You won’t gain much w/ bolt ons if the ECU is not retuned, still running on stock values no matter is the bolt ons are capable of 30 HP
if you just bolt on a b16 head you will be dissapointed!
if you bolt on a gsr head it will not be as bad, a b16 will really wake your car up and be alot more fun to drive, those ls trannys are pretty long for 110whp, skinny had the similar setup and he got his car to run 14.7 i beleive with a stock ls motor with minor mods, alot less then you have, (vince can drive the shit outta his car), the cheapest way to get power is boost, anyway you look at at!
I agree with vince being a killer driver. But the GSR does have much better cams to make power but the B16 and GSR both have the disadvantages and advantages. GSR has the downward intake ports that some believe to speed and ease the air into the intake ports. But the B16/ITR (same head just cleaned up more) has a much better quench pad design in the combustion chambers. So its hard to pick and choose. Be baller and send endyne either head and it will come back with the GSR intake ports and B16/ITR quench pads. The ultimate head as he says. Although it costs more than even I would want to spend hahahahahaha. I could see it being more benificial to an all motor car, but with boost any vtec head seems to work as good as any other.
My buddy ran a 15.1 in the 1/4 mile with traction problems with his B18b and with 90k miles on the engine. His mods are I/E.How many miles ur engine has?Like the other guys said, with a b16 tranny will help alot.
