Ok so here’s the situation. I drove out to Buffalo from Albany earlier this week. I will be in town all this upcoming week visiting with friends and enjoying myself.
Anywho, while on my way here on I-90… about 3/4 into my trip (roc) I started to experience some serious death wobble coming from my front passenger side tire. Well about 2 weeks back when under the car I noticed a small rip in the cv boot on that side, BUTTTT I was only experiencing minor clicking when the wheel was at full lock, so I thought I had a bit of time to go before needing to repair the issue.
I’m sure some of you would face palm at that comment but on previous cars I’ve owned, I have been able to notice progressive clicking and whatnot before having to replace the joint. So my thought was I would hear it get progressivly worse over the next few weeks until I had time to replace myself. In this case, I did not experience any progressive symptoms… UNTILL I was on the I-90 and got the death wobble. SCARY. After pulling over and examining the situation I felt I had no other choice but to continue onward much slower. What else could I do? I dropped my speed down to 60 mph and “limped” the rest of the way here… and here I am now.
After keeping the speed down I have not gotten any more wobble, and any minor driving I have done around town has been accomplished without any worsening symptoms. I know the joint is fOCked, and I am super worried about driving back to Albany at the end of this next week.
So…
Here’s my call for help:
I don’t want to bring the car to a shop, as I have all the tools to do this myself back home. Money is somewhat tight this time of year, yet I need to do something about this.
Would anyone be willing to lend me some space and tools, and potentially a hand so that I could get this fixed while in town? Ridiculous request, I know… but what else am I supposed to do?
If ANYONE can lend me a hand not only would it be greatly appreciated but you would definitely be rewarded with some moneys, food, and beer of your choice… of course.
Here is a somewhat shitty DIY highlighting the tools necessary to complete the job, and what goes into it. If I were to guess we could leisurely bang this out in no more than a few hrs.

PS: It’s a VA car so besides this past winter it has seen NO salt and is pretty damn clean all around. NO rust to speak of so I don’t forsee any issues in that regard.
