well i mean door open interior light battery can get drained. shouldnt u disconnect a battery b4 doing a electronic install?
not unless you’re a clumsy fuck who’s gonna short a bunch of shit out under a dash. Not to mention you can run into problems w/ customers not knowing thier radio unlock codes. I’ve installed probably 1000 remote starts and never disconnected a battery while doing it.
:word: to everything jeff just said
just out of curiosity, how did u run tach wire or alternator wire for the starter? last i checked, all of that stuff ahd to be run through the firewall for a remote start install…not to doubt your ability AT ALL or anything, but i was jsut curious as to what kind of remote starters you guys install over there that dont need a tach wire or alternator wire run.
dei runs awesome off of voltage from what i’ve found. i run tach on the other lesser quality units and on older cars
This is a good way to blow the rectifier diodes and really fuck up the alternator…
Do not do this[/QUOTE]
Interesting… I’ve heard from several people that it’s a good way to test an alternator…
I’ll look into it more.
^^ DEI…ugh, we’ve had soooooo many problems with those things! thats y we switched over to carrying CompuStar exclusively. the DEI rep is an asshole too, from what ive heard. but if you’ve had good luck with them, you are one of the few that ive heard of
really, u’ve had problems with DEI? what kinda stuff? i’ve been having really good luck with them… we used to have Code alarm and those on the other hand had tons of problems lol
That’s kinda funny 'cuz I really am not liking the new DEI stuff lately. I used to love the code alarm F-50 I never had any problems w/ them. They can be finicky during install though and are easily fried if you fuck up. Audiovox owns Code Alarm now so I don’t know how the newer stuff is. The crimestopper cool starts seem reliable as well, but the button icons wear off easily. I also always run tach lead no matter what. Just eliminates the occasional problems. Not to mention hood pins (I prefer murcury switches) should not be optional.
yea the code alarms freak out if u don’t ground them first, found that out right away haha
I haven’t had any real problems with the DEI units, I don’t like their external relay pack though. As far as the code alarm units, they offer alot but are finiky. I also just started using Compustars and absolutly love them. Just gotta get used to the new wire colors.
