I was just told by my body shop that BC coilovers are pretty good and are well priced. He got a pair for his sti and caliber for around 1000 each and said the ride quality and handling is amazing. Has anyone had any experience with them?
Ryan with the S13 vert had it on his car. I think his user is jdmrecon. Hes the one selling the vert in the classifieds ask him. If its for your s14 look into Fortune auto(built in the states) and Powerbymax. they start at 1000 but there good coils
Yes I have BC Racing HR Coils and they are good entry level coilovers for the price, unfortunately I did not get a chance to drive on them much for the past 2 season (2000km total). What I do know is they do tend to seize up (collar) if not treated right if you plan to winter drive your car. Both my friends with BC racing coilovers collar seized when winter driven. (2011 Subaru STi and 2003 Honda Civic SiR)
Overall, very good coils for the money and they ain’t no fancy shamncy color coils ^_^.
I was under the impression that BC and Megan are manufactured identically by the same company. The only difference I’ve heard (but not from a reliable source) is that BC coils are tested and matched sets. You can also order BC coils in an “extreme drop” package (I think that’s what they call it?) where the valves and springs are different than stock in order to go lower without sacrificing preload/ride quality problems. Other than that, they are known as an entry level fully adjustable coilover.
Might as well spend a little more and grab a set of Stance/HSD coils or as Mr.Prem mentioned, some Powered by MAX as everything that company produces is phenomenal.
Yea I heard that they are produced in the same factory as Megan coils. I think they are better quality but I wouldn’t want to take the risk as I have Megan right now and don’t really like them. I don’t winter drive my car but i think ill stick to what you guys and many others say. probably just look into stance, hsd, pbm etc.
I carry all of the above except PBM.
Another up and coming coilover is Fortune Auto: http://www.fortune-auto.com
Some really great reviews and it seems to be popular with the 240/s2k/evo crowd.
imho the entry point right now is HSD and it goes up from there.
after entry level, something with inverted dampers
HSD/Stance is the way to go. Unless u don’t see your car ever seeing the track, then get watever you want. doesn’t matter then.
