Actually it has to do with weight transfer during braking. The car is going to try and pivot on the front wheels (i.e. ass in the air) so the inertia beats out gravity in the back. Without the weight you lose the traction on the rear tires while you’ve gained it on the front. If you had larger rear brakes you’d just lock your tires faster and lose even more traction…
