I need an inspection for both my cars soon. 97 saturn and 94 camaro. Both are in fine shape. Last year, i took it my saturn to goodyear and they took forever.
Anyone know a place near Tonawanda that won’t disassemble my entire car, trying to find something to replace in order to pass the car?
The reasoning I’ve always had with the instant oil change places is they remove the conflict of interest. A full service shop doesn’t make much at all on the inspection, but they make good money replacing parts that fail. If something is worn enough to show a customer, but well within spec to pass, I don’t feel like hoping the guy is honest.
Oil change places don’t do any of the work, so if they’re going to fail you it should be because something really is a safety hazard.
^ They did my GTO but it’s stock ride height. It won’t climb up on a standard set of ramps like what you would use in your garage to change oil though, so it’s not real high.
ahh cool, I was just wondering if they could do a S2000. It is stock height as well but last year I took it to monro since it was close to me and they bottomed it out on their ramps. No damage but I would prefer a place that did not have to do that.
Chances are if it’s worn it fails…everyone always looks for an easy out on an inspection. It’s there to let you know the current condition of your car. Like I’ve said before, I look at it all on all of the cars. I’m paid hourly not by the job…
I’ve been going to the oil change place on the corner of Colvin and Sheridan for my last two inspections. They have the pits in the ground so there’s nothing to bottom out on.
They pinched me for a set of wipers on the tC, but it really needed them anyway. Other than that, no problem. And one of the cars I took there was the DSM. So if they passed it, your cars shouldn’t be a problem.
I went to the oil change place across from Target in Depew once. My front lip scraped all the way down on the little ledge where the pit is, but it wasnt a big deal. They turned the headlights on, and hit the horn. Then I went to another random oil chance place, and it again scraped. They stared in amazement at my dirty and near stock engine bay, and then passed me with only plugging into the OBDII.
Go to a quick oil change place, and dont act like you know nothing. They wont bother to hassle you.
