Best place to take a restored classic car for an inspection?

my dad just bought a 55 bel-air that has had a frame off resto, (underbody paint matched and everything) he needs to get it inspected but doesnt want someone that wont care about it putting it up in the air / pulling off wheels ect.

does anyone know a shop that will take extra care with the car during the inspection?

thanks -jim

Before anybody posts, just pm him.

I’ve never been personally; but for a legit inspection with a place that I’ve heard great things about; Licata’s on Walden.

hes looking for a legal advice

Impala Brothers in Alden. A guy at work with classics and hot rods goes there.

Edit: I’ve also taken my cars to Alden Automotive and Mr Best Wrench (Grand Island). I’m very particular about who I hand the keys over to…

Im not asking for sticker or something, the car will pass no problem. im just looking for a shop that will take some extra care during the inspection process

Maybe I’m just a little slow on a Monday morning, but is asking for a shop that will be careful with an awesome classic car during an inspection really be deemed as asking for legal advice?

Would that mean that all the other threads about what will or won’t make your car fail inspection be considered legal advice too?

he was joking about the legal advice, i assumed there was something that wouldnt pass based on the lifting the car comment.

That being said… I was more looking to protect the “inspectors” that help car guys out. Rather than getting them in trouble.

What is the inspection like on a '55 anyway? If it starts and doesn’t explode in a giant fireball, it passes?

Good to hear you’re looking out for them, they’re getting harder and harder to find these days.

I would hope no one would ever post on here “What place will pass a car even though my frame is rotted out?” or something like that.

the lifting the car comment was directed at the fact that it has a show quality paint job on the bottom (like where you would have mirrors on the ground at a show) and hes not looking to have someone eff it up by not taking extra care in the lifting process

lets just say seatbelts werent even an option until 1957 lol

It’s OBDII, needs to be hooked up to a computer.

Power’s Auto on Delaware, Great guys there who specialize in classics. A+ work

dan at amton on delaware just north of the 290. he is a car guy, you wont have to worry about anything happening to the car with him. hes a great guy and has show cars in there all the time.

Make sure that the place where you go, you stand over the person like a hawk and watch everything they do. They like that.

Make sure you tell them how to do their job while you’re at it.
They like that.

I know Rod from autocrossing, real stand up guy, and he always seems to have at least one show quality classic in his shop.

Not sure if Black Forest Motorsports does inspections on classics like this one (they seem to specialize in foreign and exotic), but the owner is a member here and anyone who has been there has been really happy with the work.

Good to know.
Living on the island these days.

Rod is an A++ guy and really knows his shit. and thats my professional opinion as is Jason @Black Forrest
