Inspection advice?

Long story short, got pulled over for messed up inspection sticker (Depew). Dad was supposed to have the car inspected for me at his friends shop while i was at work one day, but fucked it up somehow.

Id like to just have the car pass inspection (dont care on the price of inspection, just dont wanna dump hundreds into the car to get it to pass). Car has a busted tail light lens, piece missing about the size of the palm of your hand. Both front corner lens covers are gone (bulbs still work tho). One of the tires is worn, it needs lower ball joints, and the e-brake doesnt work. The guy i usually take it to said he couldnt pass it this time, cause he has to go to court for giving an inspection waiver to a car that wasnt eligible or something. Anybody know of a shop that will pass the car if I patch up the tail light or put some red tape on it or something? Its a 93 Tempo, so I seriously doubt its worth dumping all the money required to fix it 100%.

You need some soap on a rope

I’m not sure what answer your fishing for but the solution is everything you don’t want to hear. fix the tail light, fix the marker lights, replace the tire, replace the ball joint, fix the emergency brake, get car inspected. Get a lawyer so your driving future isn’t dependent on the judges mood that day.

its a 93 tempo… not exactly worth all the money required to fix that stuff. Contemplated junking the car for 200 bucks, and putting that money toward a new beater to last me till spring, but then id have to make sure the new beater could pass inspection as it sits, etc.

junk the tempo, take tempo money to put snow tires on T/A, then save up $ over summer for reliable beater

you are lookin at spending some loot either way. either fix the car and get it inspected, and hopefully pay less fines, or junk it, buy something that does pass, and hope the judge got laid that morning.

that might be your best bet. show up with proof that you junked the car, it’s better than showing up without fixing all of the broken shit.

it sounds like it’s a complete piece of shit/widow maker anyway, you might as well cut your losses.

Now, if i get a different car, does it need to be inspected right away? Cause according to the dmv site, it says that every time the car transfers ownership it needs to be inspected. But a couple of my friends said that the car doesnt need to be inspected till the current sticker is up, even if it does transfer owners.

your friends are wrong. anytime ownership changes the law requires it be inspected.

this issue is independent of your current trouble though.

Umm you forgot the part of the story that you took a sticker off another car and tried to pass it off as a valid one on yours.

You’re trying to make it sound like the stick was just expired when infact you ripped it off another car and tried to pass it off.

technically not an inspection item, cant fail bc of a ball joint. just sayin’

correct.

also, i’m shocked that, thus far, no one has called him out on the racial innuedoes.

How about you fix your piece of shit or take it off the road? Has that idea even crossed your mind?

Racial shit fixed.

Didnt know that ball joints werent part of the inspection. So technically if i can find a shop that wont care to test the ebrake or shit like that, some little po-dunk run down shop, and fix the lights, odds are they’ll pass it?

lol, mean people suck.

I’m 99% sure the inspection sticker is married to your registration in the DMV database which is why yes, you have to get a car inspected when the registration changes hands. People get away without doing this because a cop is only going to pull you over and run your inspection if he sees it being out of date. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to just leave the old inspection sticker on there and hope no one ever notices it doesn’t match the registration.

Seeing as you’re already in trouble for having a non-legit inspection I wouldn’t chance it. Junk the car, get another beater that will pass inspection, and get a legit sticker on the thing. Go to court with proof that you junked the car and that you’re new ride is 100% legal and hope the judge is in a good mood. Or spend the few bucks it would take to get the current car to pass, get it inspected and go to court with the proof that the current car is now legal.

stop asking for advice on how to break the law or im going to close this thread, move it to where you cant see it anymore, infract you, and continue to do so for each subsequent thread you make on the subject.

and boom goes the dynamite.

nice people blow

:wtf:

All the talk about people racing illegally and shit and you get asshurt over a thread where someone is looking for a lenient shop for an inspection? :eyebrow:
