Best way to clean your cars interior? detail guys step in

Soo my cr-z’s interior is dirty from over the winter (carpet, seats etc) My question is, do I just pay delta sonic the $89 for the shampoo interior detail? Or is it worth it/ cheaper to rent a rug doctor from wegmans and do it myself?

I havent had to do this in years, last I did I was 18 and just took my car to delta, and the result was decent. So if someone could point me in the best direction id appreciate it!

thanks,

-Mike

Buy blue magic carpet cleaner. Comes in a aerosol can at autozone. Spray on,Let sit, scrub, and wipe.

^ +1. Just go to the nearest parts store. If they don’t have Blue Magic any foaming carpet cleaner will work. A vacuum with a spinning brush works awesome too.

If you want to save yourself the time, my buddy Brian does terrific detail work on interiors, and is very reasonable on pricing…

Compressed air, a shop vac, dish soap/sponge, a scrub brush, and a small towel soaked in lacquer thinner will take care of 99% of your carpet cleaning needs.

Start with a quick dry vac followed with compressed air to blow all the shit out of the nooks. Sponge the carpets, then scrub them. Vacuum. If there are any stains/spots remaining scrub them with the soaked towel of lacquer thinner.

If you’re doing the rest of the interior, compressed air will be your best friend. In my days of detailing I’d sponge clean all the doors, dash, center console, etc, then use a brush on vents, air to blow all it dry. Wipe with a damp towel.

You really don’t need exotic cleaning supplies.

How dirty is it exactly? It has to be pretty effed up to need a real shampoo/steam cleaning. Typically if you vacuum, brush with a stiff bristle brush, vacuum, spray with cleaner, scrub with brush, then wipe it down it will get pretty much anything out.

Dont use delta. I used them for my last car purchase. HUGE let down. Car was bought to fix it up and it was a mess when i got it. Went to delta and had them do the interior. When i got it back there were still spots of dirt and stuff everywhere. Ill be taking out my seats this summer and doing it right.

I can vouch for Brian. He did an awesome job bringing my car back to life for the first summer I had it…the clear is beat to shit but he got it to shine.

I realize it is not interior pics but his Shelby has one of the cleanest interiors I’ve ever seen. The guy does awesome work.

Make sure that if you do shampoo the carpets, you do it on a hot day and leave the windows down after to let the carpets dry. Nothing worse than having them stink because they never dried properly.

Hm alright Im getting alot of different ideas lol. The interior itself is not that bad, its primarily the seats that really irritate me. They are dirty and have spots on them that i think only a shampoo could clean.

Use interior foam. Done.

wet vacs do wonders to carpet. fantastic is great for removing most stains scrub brush and warm-hot water spray let soke scrub vacuum water away. look at the water in the vacuum after and you’ll see the shit you vacuumed out. This is the basic idea behind steam cleaning on the cheep.

I really dont think that stuff is strong enough lol, like it looks like someone was out in the garden rolling around and then sit in my seats on the bolsters and other areas. I just need something to really get in there and clean it

If they’re not super bad you can get away with using one of those foam interior/carpet cleaners designed for cars and a brush then a wet dry vac.

If you can go a few days without having to drive it to let it dry, Pressure washer and spray 9 turned the messed up gross smelling interior of my dd into almost new looking, did the seats, stains in the carpet and the headliner with the 40 degree pressure washer tip, wipe down all plastic panels afterwards and take the vacuum to the wet surfaces to help with dry time. its a pain to do but it got the deepest clean and took out some pretty nasty stains

The one thing I’ve never been able to figure out is getting glass absolutely streak free

As crazy as it sounds, I use newspaper to clean my windows. It does wonders combined with a foam spray glass cleaner vs. windex.

if you dont want to do it yourself, chad caudill (cc detail) on porter by the niagara falls airport does inside and out details for $125 on cars. they come out looking like they came right off the dealer showroom floor…
