Bicycle people please chime in.

Looking to buy 2 bikes mostly for just riding around Grand Island and such for the Wife and I. Maybe a few hundred miles a year. I don’t really want to just go to walmart and pick something out.Would like to support locals and maybe get something built in USA.
Suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
D

Check out Campus Wheel Works, and check out the Felt road bikes. Win win

 here’s a nice one.

You might like Hybrid/Comfort bikes. That’s what I got for this purpose. Check out the lower model Trek/GT/Gary Fisher hybrid stuff from the local bike shops…I went with a GT Nomad and love it

Go to Campus Wheel Works. Dudes are legit

felts usually start around a Grand. Id say hit handlebars in the north towns… bigger selection with a wider cheaper range

If you’re not looking to load up miles I’d suggest a comfort/hybrid or a fitness hybrid. Fitness hybrid is a hybrid like bike but had more of a road bike tire and gearing, actually enjoyable to ride if you don’t like the foreword position of a road bike.

I’d look at some cannondales, or (I can’t believe im saying this) treks or fishers, even giant makes a good bike. They start off at a decent price and are decent value. I’d check campus wheel works, north star or Berts; in that order.

Just keep in mind with moat bikes you get what you pay for. Not sure your budget but more often than not the price jump between say a 400$ bike and $600 bike is well worth the price as far as components and quality.

My fiance just told me about this place…I thought it was a gay club

LOL

I’ll sell you my 2006 Scott Sub 30.

Being that I used to work at Red Door/The Bicycle Company… My best advise is, Campus Wheel Works. They carry Felt bikes, and the staff knows their shit.

Unless you’re hardcore squirrelish-type of anal road bike enthusiast, then Handlebars is right up you’re ally, literally. My impression was, unless you’re talking about the slightest ounce differences between this years and last years Durace components, they don’t really care who you are.

That Scott roadie is a killer deal at $100. If it’s not the right size for you guys, and it’s a 56, I’ll be 3rd in line behind Prog.

Bump. Anyone know how yo get shops of goober? Hasn’t been on since

I went to Campus Wheel Works a few years ago for some tubes and Co2 cartridges for a ride after work. There were 2 guys and a girl working there at the time. One of the guys starts talking about his “Sweet fixie” and how he rides it all over the city. Then he asks the girl why she doesn’t ride hers to work. She said “Sorry, I ride my track bike at the track, not the street.” I was in love.

Sorry, dudes. Been a busy week.
