If you get one tonight and put it in the freezer it will be frozen by morning. These molds arent huge so you may want to get two for when the first one melts.

Jamestown Ice sells 22lb blocks for like $4 each. Might be a bit of a drive for you though.

If you want, I can put you in touch with someone who might be able to get you some leftovers or broken blocks for super cheap or free.

I know this is a bit late… but you can take a rubbermade tote of proper size and use another smaller tote/item to suspend in the water with tape or rope to form the luge. I’ve done this before.

here’s how I made mine…(I made one quick to show you)
It’s about 3 gallons of water.

Then if needed, you can use a very warm rag to clean up the sides and luge… or a torch

hot enough water, turn up the freezer all the way… maybe(probably not)

or better yet, the opposite… add a ton of ice to the water… that way less needs to freeze.

Search “Mpemba effect” it is basically the theory, that under correct conditions, hot water freezes faster than cold.

Under further consideration, I concluded(above) that ice water would be the best for his situation.

I’ll take a pic when its done… The cup was just used to weight the cardboard slide down. I did this one quickly so it won’t look very nice, but it will be functional
