Cool pics, I really like them 53/54 Chevy’s. Don’t need much to look really cool.
I remember seeing that car on the hamb awhile back, think he stopped posting a year ago when it still needed back glass and paint. The wraparound rear window seems like a pain but definitely looks cool when its chopped.
the glass is the hardest part, the windshield can be cut, and the sides are just flat glass so they can be custom cut , the back glass however is laminated tempered so it cant be cut. So in order to do it you have to lay it down and sink the corners. thats what was done on the monster garage 54.

drove this pile today, got it up to 45, which is kinda silly in a car that has ZERO brakes or floors haha.

now that the car is in one of my bays at the shop I started digging into it, and boy is it a can of worms.
First thing to do is the rust repair, over all the car isnt too bad, its not great but that is to be expected for a car that is almost 60 years old.
today I pulled off the door to fix it, this fucker weighs a TON, almost fucked my back trying to get this thing in the stand.
yea that’s not good, the inner door had completely rotted out.
So I cut out the old nastyness
New inner door fitted
and welded
then I flipped the door over to replace the outer skin
trimmed off the old.
fitted and tacked the new
flipped the door over again the hem the outer door skin over the edge of the inner.
before I weld up the seam I decided to strip the old paint off, the smell of 60 year old paint burning is horrible.
I guess that was a little worse than it looked lol.

The other door has some rot, so I’ll replace the inner on that. The outerskin is fine. The trunk/ hood are solid.

Couple of things buddy. Please tell me you addressed the rust inside the door! Just cause you cant see it, doesnt mean its gone!
And lastly, and most importantly… 60 year old paint USUALLY contains lead. Listen to OSHA and follow proper precautions so you will live to see your grandkids projects!!!
Homie, we have a long winter!!! Come spring time we should be rolling out HEAVY together! :number1

I used a woffy pad to clean the rust then used a sealer made by chassissaver.
And I KNOW the paint has lead. my boss looked over and goes why do you think it didn’t fall off like most other GM paint after 10 years lol
