ordered the last sheetmetal parts this week. I will be installing the outer rockers and cleaning up the drivers door next week over spring break. Basically the body is done. When I get back from school in may I will be taking the frame from the parts car, sandblasting it and then installing the new front and rear suspension.
Did the bottom and the inside of the drivers door today, Just have to make a couple patches for the outside and weld up the trim holes then I can re hang the doors and fit the rockers.
after I made a replacement bottom.
Stripped the paint and epoxied it.
Stripped the old paint off the drivers door.
and this is why the doors rot out…
after cleaning it out and patching it.
After patching the bottom, welding up the trim holes, and fixing some huge dents.
and some epoxy primer.
Now that the door was done I could rehang it and do the rocker. I had to massage the 1/4 panel to match the contour of the door.( I still have to finish it but I will once I do the bodywork.)
gaps all set and nice.
I ran out of time so I couldnt do the other side, however once I come home again ill do it.
nice progess
also :ninja I spy a 3rd gen camaro in the first picture
Yeah thats a customer’s car that Ive been doing the bodywork on. It got painted a blue pearl this past weekend. No pictures of that…well because its a 3rd gen.:rofl
Came home for Easter and decided to do a a little work. I wanted to get the other rocker done but did not have enough time. So I expoxied the trunk that I stripped/shaved and put a coule hours in getting the gaps nice and it fitting properly. Im pretty happy with the results.
I want a ride Dave! Except instead of being Angelina can I be Daisy Gatsby? lol
Dunno about that, you dont have enough tattoos to ride in this car LOL
Lol 1, almost two…that’s a handful. I think that works
Now that you have room under there maybe you can run a fuel tank from a newer Caprice Wagon. 20 gallons would get you far without stopping. Plus it is EFI compatible in tank pump… I know you were gonna go old school with the engine but I’m sure if someone can tuck an EFI system under a Caddy air filter housing it’s you…
The 283 was junk, it needs a complete rebuild, So im sticking with my original plan and putting a 5.3LS/4l60 or 4l80.
Im gonna run a 16 or 22 gallon cell in the trunk. I dont want a fuel tank under the car, esp since I will be dragging.
I like where this thing is going. VERY nice work so far!
Work is gonna pick up very quickly after this may. Im done with school and will be putting in some serious time to get this thing done for 2014.
Picked up a built 4L60e for the 54 today. Im saving to purchase the front susp in the next few weeks. Thanks to Slomarro for the hookup
My homey dave does amazing work and this thread was more interesting than some car magazines…Great job kid:tbu
pulled the parts car body off the chassis so I can start to build it. I was gonna start stripping some of the crap off of it but it was just too damn hot out. Motor should be here next week at sometime. I will prob be ordering the front susp/ bags in the next week or two. Motor should be here next week at sometime.
How are you going to drive both cars to all the shows?
i will take turns. the only show that i will bring both to would prob the adk nationals in LG. in which case I will leave the mustang parked at the show and prob shoot sparks and do burnouts in the 54.
this is a bad ass build !!!
Nice build, You make want to get another old school car lol… Miss my 65 Impala now
