ive been away a while dave but this thing looks prime. good job on the build and keep er rollin! :thumbup
since the weather has been anything but nice, I spent most of today doing some of the boring stuff. I stripped the door jambs and rockers, some mild surface rust in a couple spots but nothing a wire wheel cant fix.

Then I scraped off all of the old watershield glue and old caulking from the inside of the door. After that I had to get the rest of the paint off of the inside of the door. This was extremely time consuming and tedious because the metal has a texture to it, so I couldn’t sand it or wire wheel it like I could any other part of the car. So I used chemical stripper and a little brass wire brush by hand so I could get all of the paint of the nooks and crannys without destroying the texture. Once again the doors were completely rust free.

a very light coat of self etching primer

close up of the texture.

car looks good so far this definitely one of my dream cars too whats keeping you from painting it till the end of summer ?? money or lack of a place to spray it or what
I just have so much other stuff to do before its ready for paint. I still have to buy another 1,000 worth of body stuff (fender flares, side skirts, ext ext) In addition do doing body work on the rest of the car, I still have to relocate the gas cap the drivers side sail panel there’s a good month or two worth of bodywork still ahead of me just to get the car ready for paint. Then on top of that paying for the paint/materials itself which isn’t cheap.
Your movie’s on A&E right now
and I don’t mean to screw up your build thread I saw brooks mentioned a rs/ss as his dream car and we just finished/painted an authentic one numbers matching
believe me I completely understand its alot to bite off doing a full restore
Yeh shit is coming along real good. Just a question do you plan on touching the
underneath of the car at all or has it already been disassembled and put on a rotisserie???
Im just wondering if your getting that into the restoration. My dad fully restored his 71 z28 and it took him 5 years to do even tho he worked on the car 4 outta 7 days a week. Then again the car was a complete wreck. it need a new roof you could stick your finger through metal on the roof.
The cars undercarriage/suspension has been completely restored when the previous owner had it on a rotisserie.
