BIG REDS wanna be Nick Cage Build thread.

damn that fender does look awesome! was def worth the trip just for that alone!

Wow car is looking good dave.

I know right. that’s the only part we got today that I could just “bolt on” everything else needs to be modified:crazy

Very cool build.
I was wondering, how are you going to line up the fender arches with the bumper?
It seems to stick out in the photos by a good half-inch. Fender flares maybe?

got the taillight panel in, this took at ton of trimming and some force because it was slightly warped. Since the original shelbys had the gas cap and key hole between the taillights, Ill have to install a remote trunk popper, and relocate teh gas cap to behind the driverside upper scoop

after lunch ill put in the taillights, and trunk popper

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

looks good man!!

spent the majority of the day working on the side skirts, with yetti. The company that made them makes them so they hang about 2 inches low so that it makes running the exhaust a bit easier, but at the same time makes it look silly. so I cut the top off, however then the sideskirt was to short, so It had to be cut and extended.

cutting the excess off.

I taped wax paper to the outside so the tape would stick to the fesh glass, I put duct tape over that then taped paintsticks and a metal rod down the skirt so it would stay straight

first layer of glass, it was hard to keep it from pooling in the bottom, but in the end it did a but, but I should add some strength.

one side done compared to what I started with

and then my camera died but I got the other side all done as well.

WOW, good work buddy!

What do you use for your fiberglass? Duraglass?

Use less resin more cloth and it won’t pool or sag. what i did at one point was lay dry cloth, glued that in place and then painted small amounts of rsin over it. less mess and hels shape better while drying

i used fiberglass

got all of the fiberglassing on the side skirts done, I had to grind down the front and put some where it was extended so I wont have any cracks down the road I also had to reshape the rear above the tip so it sits flush against the body.

ignore the big fender gap I still have to put the rest of the bolts in and adjust it.

taillights are in, just need to wire them up

It seems a lot of the replica’s use different exhaust tip set-ups. Which one is movie correct? I can’t find any movie-stills with a good shot of the exhaust.

It’s looking sexy man, very good work. I’m excited to see the final results.

the cars built for the movie originally used a oval rolled tip, however none of the original 12 cars had functional exhaust, so after the movie came out Cinema vehicle services went back and and made the exhaust on the press cars functional, they used a dual borla tip which I’m going to use for my car. I looked all over to find them, I even contacted borla with no luck, eventually I found a set from a guy down in Florida.

movie tip

one of the original cars with functional exhaust using the borla tips(what im using)

Oval tip> Borla son!!

too bad they dont make one that looks like that, the one they do make looks like ass

Really? How the heel did those guys get em then? Id imagine you could have a set made…
