well since my hood and lower valence didn’t come today I decided to work on the headlight openings in the upper nose.
started by making a template the size of the light, in this case a Tupperware container happened to be a perfect match.
then traced out the template on the upper nose
and cut it out with my dremel
held up the light and smoothed everything out all nice
while sanding I found a couple bubbles in the fiberglass, so that will have to be fixed
held up the light and check everything out
here is a close up of one of the movie cars
Didn’t quite look right to me,notice the size of the lip around the headlight compared to mine. so I made a call to Cinema Vehicle Services(makers of the original 11 movie cars) and asked him to measure the fog lights on one of thecars used in the movie.
the 4062 light which is what I currently have measure 6 1/4 inches
The guy at CVS told me the headlights on the movie car were actually bigger than the fogs. Sure enough the fogs on the car measured 6 1/4 meaning that they were the 4062 light NOT the headlight as I was originally told, after some more calls I found that the original cars used light number 5862 which measure 6 11/16th
If you look close at this picture you can see the headlights are slightly bigger than the fogs. So I called PIAA and ordered the correct light.
I have no idea, the valence has been in the warehouse in conn since thurs, I called them Friday and they said they’ll get it out Friday, called today still not out, maybe tomorrow? prob not tho. hood who knows.:retardclap
I got my hood and lower valence today. first I wanna show one of the things that bug me on pretty much any clone ive seen. notice the difference between the movie hood and the repo hood that most people use that looks like ass. pay close attention to the leading edge of the hood notice on the movie car it has a slight arch to it,compared to the repo hood that is flat.
repo on top movie car on the bottom
now notice the hood bulges once again the repo one is very flat and block like, it doesnt really flow with the lines of the car at all. compare it to the movie hood.

some shots of my car from today.
notice the correct arch on the front edge of the hood
the car will get the same 17x8 PS engineering wheels used on the original cars.
spent some time fitting the hood today, pretty happy with the way it fits. gaps are nice.I had to grind off about 1/4 inch of material from the rear of the hood so it didnt hit the cowl when it closed. I need to build up the back passenger side just a little, and add a little bit to the very front pass corner but other than that it fits nice.
overall
new headlights, not 100% done but you get the idea.
spent the morning bolting on the front end pieces and the lower nose support so I can start doing body work on those. the drivers side fits almost perfect, the passenger side will require some work.
got the new fender put on tonight, and started fitting the taillight panel.
I decided to use a new fender because the old one was bowed up front and it would have required a ton of work/ filler to fit right. So I opted for a new one, I was kinda worried about the fit because it was reproduction but im glad I did it will save me a ton of time.
before
after
tomorrow im gonna finish the taillight panel, get the taillights wired and install the electronic trunk release. If I have time I may eve start the fiberglass work on the side skirts.
