oh good news the movie car was actually a cashmere beige e36 318 sedan with an s52 swap, come finish it, i have a project going right now.
I spent about 6 hours today on the rear quarter, minus the front fender this was the hardest part of the car yet, it was very warped from the new quarter being put on. Im pleased with the final result tho.
put both quarters in rattle can primer today so I can start going over everything with 180 and getting all of the pinholes and deeper scratches out, then once i put primer on it at the bodyshop all I will have to do is wetsand that to get it ready for paint.
since the doors only had very minor imperfections i blocked those with 80 grit, went over everything with icing to fill in any pin holes and then hit everything with 180 and primer.

I gotta go TO work son.
the hood is coming tomorrow so ill DO work tomorrow
damn, this things coming along nicely…
Since my hood didnt come today, I figured I might as well put the rear lower valence on. I figured it would take 20 minutes, wrong. I ended up having to move the brackets and re weld them so the valence would sit flush on the body.

bracket drilled out

Before I could do the final bodywork on the fenders I had to scrape off the original 40 year old ford undercoating that was flaking off. Little help from the heat gun and a putty knife made easy work of this. I wirewheeled all of the surface rust off and sprayed it with truck bed coating. I didnt want to use undercoating because it stays sticky. I pretty happy with the result.

3M makes good undercoating that is rubbery and does not stay sticky. The bead liner should do the trick tho.
