Boat: 1998 Chaparral 180LE

I don’t have the time or money for a boat right now. I only had the damn thing in the water once last summer. (Damn baby.)

So I’m selling my 1998 Chaparral 18’ open bow cruiser, with trailer.

I bought it in April 2009 from Bill’s Boatworks. Bill’s had bought it at auction with a cracked motor and replaced it with a newly rebuilt Mercruiser 3.0 4 cylinder. There’s no hours meter, but I had it in the water probably at least once a week summer 2009 and summer 2010. Then the baby came and it was in the water once last summer. So the hours are still really low.

It’s never been docked so the paint’s still in great shape. Floor boards are solid, carpets are clean, vinyl is in great shape with no cuts or tears. I added a garmin fish finder. I’m pretty sure Bills put new canvas on it so that’s flawless other than a few stains. I can throw in a few life jackets and flares and whatnot so that you’ve got everything you need to be legal. Just hand me the cash and hit the water for the summer.

I had Bill’s winterize it and store it every winter since I bought it. They’re summerizing it right now so I’ll probably have it available next weekend after I clean it up. I’ll get pictures up then.

I’ll take $7k but don’t bother offering me less. I’ll just keep it if I can’t get that. (I paid $9k for it.)

Just hold onto it. Before you know it your kid will be old enough to really enjoy the boat. Mine has been asking me non-stop when we’re going out on ours.

I love that type of boat. I wish I lived somewhere nice year round and/or had somewhere to store it.
GLWS

Were you storing this at your house in the driveway or did you have a slip?

No slip. I stored it at the house and launched it at Niawanda Park when I went out. Like I said it’s never been docked, which is nice because lake/river scum eats away paint in a hurry. The paint is still pretty glossy and nice.

Looks like a nice boat. Seeing these for sale makes me feel good about my 1987 Thundercraft for $750 that is in great shape! I didn’t even use mine last year, but I just bought a truck with the intentions to use it for the boat this year. Anyways, GLWS!

Boats aren’t painted, they are gelcoated (unless someone bottom painted it)… I know, semantics, but it was bugging me

Fair enough. The gelcoat is in good shape.

Now buy it.

i just bought a new one

glws though…sounds like it’s in good shape and is a great deal for someone

Great boat company. This is pretty quick too!

I have consumed alcoholic beverages on this vessel and can attest to it being awesome.

The article I linked was talking about the V6. Mine’s a 4 cylinder. Tops out at 45 mph, which isn’t too shabby on the water. Plus it’s a great hull design so it gets up on plane in the bat of an eye.

LOL so I’m going to sell my truck too. '07 Xterra 4x4 6MT 60k. Gonna list it at $15.5. If someone wants to buy them both as a matched set I’ll sell them as a package for $20k. $2500 dollars in savings!

Nice shorts, Jeff.

Sincerely.

Do you keep this at Bill’s boatworks, and just launch it everytime you use it?

Stop checking out my ass

It is wintered at Bills, I believe that he keeps it at his house for the summer
