Booby trap: neighbor sneaking into house

This is hilarious.

any software you could point me to? I do have an extra computer that actually works. In fact, I could just let it record all the time and fill up the hard drive…

Oh what a coincidence, look what I just found. LOL

like already mentioned, just lock your door…

but just buy a cheap camera with a motion detector like people use for hunging and mount it facing the stairs, as he comes down you get his pick, just kind of hide it so he can’t see it. From there, drop off to cops and let them scare him.

Buy a dog?

The only booby trap worth discussion is the fishing line. Since all your lights are on, do you think an intruder would miss the brightly colored ratchet strap?

Maybe, once you are ready for bed, or want to leave your place, you can ratchet strap his entire exterior, thus locking his doors instead of yours?

if the guy is crazy enough to come in your house, he may be a dangerous person…i’d be prepared to have something threatening in-hand at the point where you are confronting the person who you just purposely booby-trapped in your basement (READ: bring a 12-gauge to investigate when he busts his ass).

Places boxes on the steps. “I was meaning to take them down” There is your trap. lol

I prefer the 12ga blank trip wire

Or there’s the extreme of a mouse trap attached to a frag …

Sorry the combat engineer in me coming out.

Wait, how is it illegal to set a trap and hurt someone who breaks into your house, but it IS legal to shoot and kill someone who breaks into your house??

I don’t think it’s legal to shoot and kill someone for breaking into your house unless they are trying to hurt you. At least in NY, that is more than likely the law.

OMFG I want that 12 gauge setup!

Lock the door and get a spot light shined at his house.

Who ever leaves a door unlocked after numerous times your light bulb has been stolen is a moron. I wouldn’t be surprised if the robber sets up a trap for you and you fall down your stairs and he steps over you with all your light bulbs in his hands while you or your roommates have a broken neck.

Hire a marching band to wait outside in the dark. Then when the perp is coming out of your house have them great him/her with a rendition of “She loves you, yeah-yeah-yeah…”

Simple, because to legally pull the trigger on someone you have to determined that they were a reasonable and immediate threat. A trap is indiscriminate and cannot make that judgement, hence illegal in all 50 states.

I don’t necessarily agree with it, but that’s the legal reasoning. Personally in my ideal world you would be allowed to do what ever you want to someone who illegally enters your properly. Tripwire claymores on all your entry doors? Fine with me.

If it’s a single door into the basement, turn the door knob around, and lock it. Once he let’s himself in, and latches the door, he’ll be trapped. Keep a key in your pocket, so yo’re not fucked. Coming home you can just turn the knob and let yourself in, but he’d be looking at a keyhole trapped. That’d be comedy

AMEN. The law currently protects criminals and scum at the expense of the upstanding (taxpaying) citizens. Ideally if you respect people’s property and privacy you would have nothing to fear. If you can’t play by those rules you deserve what you get…speaking in ideal terms of course.

Best idea yet.

i kinda doubt he would shut the door behind him. You would leave it open for a quick escape.
