lol ive never even seen one like that, i would constantly be locking myself out of rooms.
Meet at travis’ house?
just wait there
just as he’s about to unscrew the bulb, turn it off and pump serious amounts of red light into the room while simultaneously blaring speed metal and smashing the door shut. come out in S&m gear.
You said it’s a fluorescent bulb, they don’t get very hot. Put a normal bulb in so that it’s really hot and not easy to unscrew without burning yourself.
Best idea yet.
Go medieval on his ass.
I just lock my door and this never happens :gotme:
Successfully remoted (sp?) in from my computer in my bedroom.
Trying it from work tomorrow.
YES!
So. Is this your house, or are you renting? Are there other tenants you will be recording?
To use remote desktop from outside your house you’re going to need to set up port forwarding on your router.

This thread made me realize just how stupid most of the people on NYSpeed really are.
Lock your fucking door and be done with it.
:picard: to anyone in this thread who didn’t tell him to just lock his door.
I agree with locking the door, but at this point if it was me I’d want to know who had the balls to come into my house (even through an unlocked door) and repeatedly steal a single light bulb. If they’ve got the balls to do that who says a locked door is going to stop them, or how this behavior is going to escalate.
If it was me I’d go with a motion activated web cam and then turn it over to the police to press charges. Then install some serious locks.
What’s the difference?

yea I just realized that. Doesn’t TWC not provide static IP’s?
Your IP usually won’t change with TWC unless you power your router off for a long time or they do a node split…My IP at home has been the same for 5 months.
However google Dynamic DNS(dyndns, no-ip) and a few others off a dynamic dns client so you could create travisn.no-ip.org and a client on your PC would always update the DNS entry if your IP ever changed
sweet. computers are awesome.
Permission might be an issue when you post sweet vids to NYSpeed.
Also, If you suspect is as old as you say, I hope you have hand rails properly installed on the steps.
Maybe you could leave him a step stool as well.
What about solely setting up a camera outside to catch the person as they tried to get in?
Well, I wouldn’t post vids of my roommates doing laundry. lol. Once I find out who it is (I’m still not 100% convinced it’s an outsider) I’ll take it down and/or just tell everyone where it is.
My roommates kinda sorta know I have a camera although I haven’t told them specifically so the bulb theft might be over. One roommate went to find the camera last night because he suspected I have one but he couldn’t find it. I really didn’t do a good job of hiding it, just wrapped it around a water pipe with the computer in the closet under the stairs.
Someone trying a door handle and walking away wouldn’t face the same charges as someone who went in the house and actually stole something.
