Ok i haven’t been on a plane since i was in high school. The wife and I will be taking a 3 day trip to NYC come May. Will be a Sat-Mon, when is the best time to book a flight?
Well its a plane and flying from BUF -> JFK is fairly cheap check Jet blue or Delta
Usually its cheapest 6-7 weeks out but flying to NYC from here is never expensive.
Tuesday thru Thursday normally have the best rates to book.
And Buffalo to NYC is almost always dirt cheap anyways.
Yea right now Jet Blue is $198 round trip a person. Just curious if the rates will drop anymore the closer it gets.
*airfare
and in all of my experiences the price does nothing but go up the closer it gets to the date of travel
Right on: Want cheap airfare? This is the best day to book a plane ticket | KSL.com
CheapAir.com analyzed nearly 5 million trips last year and found the best prices for domestic airfare were booked, on average, 47 days ahead of the departure date. The year before, the sweet spot was 54 days.
My actual experience with this is booking between 7 weeks out and 2 weeks out yields very little change in price.
There’s usually a big jump at 21 days. Beyond that just plug it in google flights and it will give you every permutation of your options…set an alert when the fare goes lower. When it hits, book it
not sure how you’re getting around, or what airline, but LGA is a bit closer to the city.
if you’re taking a cab or uber from the airport, LGA will save you a bit of money (around 20 bucks roughly each way, this varies greatly) if you’re staying in Manhattan.
so if you can fly to LGA for the same price, I usually recommend that. You’ll also deal with less traffic - sometimes the route to JFK can be absolutely BRUTAL.
I thought LGA and JFK were fixed rate into Manhattan
I was pricing out a trip to Vegas. Saved my itineray in google flights and planned on booking within the next two days. Signed in 2 days later, now the departure flight was less than a month away, the total round trip price increased by $175. I would book at least a month in advance.
Prices will go up but probably not down.
Staying in Time Square at the Millennium Business Hotel. Have a family member who works for them so he can grab a decent discount. Besides the ride to and from airport everything will be Metro Rail. Iv gotten pretty good on it. The last 4 times we went to NYC i drove. IM OVER DRIVING!
So LGA is metered fee at Manhattan is like 25-35
JGK is a flat $52 anywhere in Manhattan
Just on an side note IDK WTF happened with airfare this year. All the trips I took last year that were 2-300 bucks out west are now 5-600. Same with NYC, used to be about 120-150, now 200+
I wish I had one of those IT mobiles that Mr. Garrison designed, sure it sticks a giant rod up your ass but it beats dealing with the airlines.
No more $119 round trip to NYC Anyone want some cash and trade points? Will be booking flight for 3 people.
Not much to offer here, everyone already said it all…although you are also flying on primetime fly days…tues. through thurs. are typically much cheaper days to fly…however that will not help you in this case…but for future reference…
If you are staying in Manhattan, look at the train as well. Cheap and puts you right into the city so you save a ton on cab/car/airtrain from JFK back into the city.
Jetblue still does cheap flights to JFK from time to time.
Also the Subway to lower Manhattan takes over a hour(from JFK).

I don’t know what airlines you fly but I fly at least twice a month and tickets are always sub $500(normally 300-400) booking 2 weeks or less out including BUF -> SFO.
The only trip I had over $500 last year was SFO on 1 day notice.
Usually a RT flight to the WC is $350-$450, at least that’s what I’ve always paid.
