BOV install

I realize this has prbally been asked a milloin times but, where is the best place to tee in the sense line for my BOV on a CA. And how do i know if i have it adjusted properly?

actually to tell you the truth i dont think ive ever seen this posted before… :S but sorry im not any help ive never done it before… my guess is gonna be on the intake manafold side… someplace thats not gonna get smacked by the hood… LOL

yup, T it from a vacuum line coming off the intake manifold.

Adjust so that it’s tight enough not to open at about 1 psi shifts.

K, that helps alot thanks, that will be tricky without a boost guage. I assume that also affects how the car idles too? It seemes to idle differnt now(lower and hunts a small amount, nothing too bad)

if your not sure how to do it … or dont think you can do it right… dont do it… wait till you have someone there who can help you or show you how to do it proper… saves you a lot of stress and agrivation

k, say i wanted to recirculate it because my hunting at idle is actually gettin worse, i would vent the outlet on the BOV in to the intake cold pipe after the MAF right?

i know i posted a vaccum line picture for ca18’s in another BOV thread. search it and the pic should help

exactly.

And that would make the car idle normal again? Sorry for all the questions, first time ive played with a BOV.

Just re-circing alone probably won’t cure all of your idle problems, if they are continious (.ie when you start your car, after about 30 seconds it should idle normally despite a vented bov.)
What it will cure is your idle when you come to stop lights and between shifts.

Constantly having the ECU trying to correct its own rich-condition would probably do some whacky things to your LTFT’s so re-circ might cure your idle problems, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Have you done a boost leak test? boost leaks are vacuum leaks when not under boost, and those can screw up your idle if big enough. If you want to make a $20 boost leak tester, pm me and I’ll give you the parts I bought from Rona.

Well she idled normal until i put the BOV in, now it hunts at idle between 1000 and 500rpm. no i havent done a boost leak test yet, so that list of parts would kick ass. It seems to be bad at lights, shifts seem normal no bad sounds or fire that i can see. its just the idle that seems affected.

PM’d

I have found the easiest and best place to tee the vaccum line from is the charcoal canister as it is soo close to the hot pipe as well as had the best rsults for me anyways …

get a HKS EIDS … it is an idle stabilizer for cars with vented BOV …

Where abouts woudl i get one of those? And the vacuum line i used came right out of the back of the manifold, u think moving it to the canister would help? O and Aaron, i didnt get ure PM.

ah frick someone else pm’d me about the boost leak tester, it wasn’t you… I just resent the same pm to you.

Ok so a few more questions… I am still having idle problems, but today i opened the hood and checked the BOV and it seems to be leaking a small amount at idle, and when i block the outlet off with my thumb the idle jumps back to normal. So my questions are:

Is that normal? Do I not have it set right?(ei too loose) Or Is it broken?
I think recirculating it would fix this but i just want to make sure b4 i mess around more.

Thanks again for the help

any vacuum leak will cause an irregular idle. if you’ve taken your bov off, and re-used that gasket, it WILL leak.
