Met up with Krazy. Def. a good time. We did some running around on the lake and messing around with the drifts by Scout Island. Then headed into the trails some towards Broadalbin. My big fat cat doesn’t do so great on the tight trails. I have to look into the steering. Either I need new carbides or I have to transfer some more weight to the ski’s. I had fun though. I love the sled on the lake. Cruises along nicely at 100.
Krazy did awesome in the trails. He was whipping through them without a problem. Haha, awesome drifting out on the lake too.
Krazy, I should be back up on the lake this saturday again. If you make it up there, let me know. I should be in the same area. Or my sled will be on the shore over by my buddy’s camp.
I trailered back up to the Great Sacandaga Lake this past Saturday. Got out on the ice around noon. I was riding with a couple of ice fishing buddies. They were running their sleds for the first time this season. There wasn’t any puddles, but there wasn’t any snow either. Quite a few sleds out there though by mid afternoon. I stayed mostly on the shoreline. I guess the water went down some or something. There were tons of ice heaves and jumps. Spent my time going back and forth getting use to jumping. That is a blast. Sleds are so stable for it. Anyways, that was about it. Ran over to Scout island to mess around on the shoreline for a bit. There were a bunch of sleds/utv’s out there and they were having a fire. It was a nice day, sun came out and it was in the mid 30’s. I just hope we get some more snow soon.
Sunday CRD and I were headed up to the lake too, but we had an incident crossing a little creek… my stupid ass went across it and had a hard time, then he hooked a ski and got sideways in the water and almost rolled it. He got soaked, so we turned around and headed home!
Yeah we need snow. the trails were bad. fields were still decent and had plenty of snow.
CRD has his sisters BF’s 05 MXZ600HO trail to ride since he isnt around much to himself, storage fees = seat time FTW. So I took it for a rip too. The tail shocks and the SC3 ass end isnt all that impressive, they are nice and soft and have good travel, but I could still bottom them out on some small jumps. And the dual carbides and odd riser block angle he had setup made it hard to steer at low speed. Also even with a smoked belt on my 600 we were dead nuts even.
Now if I can sell mine, I have to look for an X version with the SC4 skid to be happy… damn it.
Well the fun to $ ratio for a sled is through the roof sometimes.
My 99 MXZ600 is dead nuts even speed wise with 05 rev 600ho. The suspension isnt on par to say the least, but I still blow by riders in the trails on my older machine, as long as the landings arnt flat bottoms I jump it all over the place still. But I dont have 1/4 of the money $ some people have in their brand new machines. so the few miles I put on it each season, is a fucking blast every time and doesnt cost as much as the other guys… especially when they are making payments on them in July!
dont even remind me about sleds… all damn year we get nothing for snow and I only got to take it out once. Now that we finally have enough snow to really put some miles on her, I go and f*** up my ankle so my season is over. FML!!!
They arnt giant, yet… but there are enough sizes and types to teach you thats for sure. I gotta warn you though, my GF on her CRF150R is jumping the 3rd gear step up like a champ now… so you might get shown up by a girl!
seriously though, get your self a ride and PM me if you want to hit the track… its built to allow beginners to advanced riders get better.
PS dirt is coming in the spring so they will be getting a bit bigger and safer actually. lol
Hell yeah bud. As long as I clean up around the house on Friday. I’ll be up on the lake Saturday. Bring on the snow. Mike, I’ll probably trailer up because I think my dad’s going Ice fishing. If that falls through somehow. I’ll head over to your house and hit the “trails” with ya.
P.S. Sad but true, while fixing a snowblower this morning. In noticed there was a layer of dust on my sled. That’s just wrong in February.
