Hey all, I told you all about 1-2 weeks ago that my friend got an 89 180sx with the CA, and well the brakes are done on that thing. So I told him to upgrade his rotors all around with drilled and slotted, and with ceramic ultimate brake pads… but as for the application issue I was wondering if there is any difference in between a 89 CAD 240sx or a 89 JAP 180sx??? In the rotors of course, also is will there be an issue with it having ABS or not??? This one does. Thanks
there shouldn’t be a difference in the rotors themselves as when i did the brakes on mine they were the same… although the pads were different… i wouldnt recommend drilled slotted unless he wants extreme stopping power… i mean a classic upgrade is Z32 brakes… and yes there is a difference between abs brakes and non-abs brakes…
i am doin mine right now. u cannot get the pads here, and 240sx rotors are slightly different in size. A couple less exspensive options are s14 4 lug calipers and rotors, or calipers from a 95 maxima, and rotors from a 95 altima. ABS should still work because the abs block does the work for the pulsing not the calipers. But some pads are marked for abs. So try to find out if the calipers u r getting were from an abs car or not. S14 4 lugs were non-ABS.
do the altima maxima swap, its much less of a pain in the ass than waiting for months for CA brake pads to come from japan.
Hmm maybe upgrading isn’t a good choice…but as for the brakes, the car has a non-ABS braking system. But “RPS13_180SX” said that the pads were diff…So then I have a problem. How do I get regular replacement pads for the car??? Do they have them at a part source Canadian tire or bumper to bumper??? Or are the pads alone the same as a CAD 89 240sx???
the pads are japan only, u have to go to nissan with the part # and they will order them, it will be 6-8weeks
Upgrading not a good choice??? The weakest part on these cars were the brakes.
