brake fluid leak?

1989 s13 sr
So my brake (!) light is on, and my fluid has leaked out somewhere and I have no brakes at all. I took off the wheels and its not leaking out of the bleeders or the calipers, and the brake booster resevoir is empty. But in between the booster and the master it seems its been leaking down for quite sometime, and the paint is stripped and it has already rusted.

…Anyways back to the point, I figure its something to do with that… but my question is, could it just be the o ring, or gasket between the booster and the master thats causing it to leak? or is it more common that its the master thats gone and its leaking out of???
I would just take it apart and check, but i am currently not with the car and need to order the part asap

any help would be appreciated

downshift + e-brake = OP did it for months…but really if you are in an s13 there is a t at the back where it can leak and another connection passenger side before it head under the car where it could leak, the top plastic piece of the reservoir just pops into the metal piece and it can also leak from there…i know i didn`t answer your question but just a few more spots to check.

@m_wolfenden
haha thats exactly what i was doing for 2 weeks aha, its sketchy but works atm ahaha.

and Okay thank you I will keep checking for now

honestly if you are working on your brakes and the lines havent been replaced…i would just bite the bullet and replace all the lines so you dont have to worry about it…25 year old rusted lines are annoying, just replace everything reservoir back
