The brake lights are completely out right now, I tested all the fuses and replaced the brake switch. I checked the bulbs and they are all fine(driving lights work fine). I’m assuming it has to be electrical, any idea where to start troubleshooting?
Also I just changed the front pads and rotors on sunday, as far as I know that couldn’t have changed anything since the only sensor down there is the speed sensor right?
Thanks!
So I havn’t driven it since the lights went out, I decided to drive around the corner to my buddies shop to grab my multimeter back(didn’t end up driving far) Now not only do the brake lights not work but three of the calipers are seized.
ABS control module maybe??
Would that cause everything to lock out at once? I replaced the brake switch, only thing I havn’t replaced is the blinker switch(correct wording?)
modules that hold the bulb(correct word?) are fine, I took them out replaced them with new bulbs and swapped for the bottom and they worked. Now as far as the actual wiring on the female end I couldn’t find a way to test.
Grab a multimeter, use a wedged board or something to engage the brake pedal, and start chasing voltage. Like skrapper said, start at the bulb socket and work your way back from there.

just a weird coincidence that the lights and all the calipers seized up at once, I’m taking the day off tomorrow and have one of my buddies(used to be a master mech) come over to help trouble shoot.
Yeah, it’s pretty strange. But to prove it you can always pull the ABS fuse, crack open the bleeder on one of the seized calipers and see if it releases. If it does something is holding pressure in the lines and maybe it is the ABS pump. If it doesn’t release the problem is the caliper.
You didn’t happen to kink a line while troubleshooting the wiring did you?
I replaced all the calipers, when I cracked open the bleeder the first time nothing came out which was weird. I’m on 5 days and over 1000 miles everything is fine, new pads and rotors all the way around while I had everything off. The brake lights I thought we had figured out, now they are back to not working again.
Multi function switch?
and there isn’t a tow hitch/harness that I’m aware of…
Tell me about it, too many electrical issues in this gen jeeps. I also have to replace the blend door and the box where the blower actuator motors stems from. The soldering melted out of place if that makes sense.
