Bringing parts in from canada

Has anyone brought bigger parts, wheels, engines, seats in the US from Canada?

Is there a process? Fees? Documents?

Thanks

I’ve brought a $500 dual muffler setup for my Speed3 over from Canada. Bought it from a place called “Ultimate Racing” outside of Toronto. Claimed it at the border.

Guy gave me a hassle that went like this:

Agent: So your car is a racing car?
Me: No, sir.
Agent: Why do you need a racing muffler?
Me: Sir, it’s not a racing muffler, just from a shop named Ultimate Racing.
Agent: Well it must be a racing muffler.

Conversation went back and forth like that for a bit then her finally let me go with no problems.

I dont know if this fits in your “bigger parts” category but hopefully it gives you a scenario lol

Well I guess I am more concerned with buying from a private owner and bringing over a set of wheels to start.

The one benefit I have potentially is that my gf’s parents have a house up there that I could say I am getting them from. I have no issue with paying tax or whatever, just don’t want to get harassed over stolen parts and have them confiscated or something dumb

tell them you went over to sell the parts and the guy didnt want them  so your just bringing them back home

Ahh yea private seller may be different story. Just claim them and be honest and be ready to pay tax.

I have friends in Canada who have items shipped to my house to save on shipping costs all the time and usually have no issues going abck over. The last time though, my buddy bought wheels and claimed them the honest way heading back into Canada and had to pay almost as much in taxes as the shipping would have cost.

I doubt they’d get confiscated as long as you claim them and are ready to pay and tax.
