Brock Yates (Cannonball Run, Car & Driver) on the Big Three Automakers

"Detroit can’t build small, fuel-efficient cars to compete with the better-engineered and popular cars coming from Europe and Japan.

American auto executives are a myopic and insular group unable to confront the challenges of a changing auto industry.

The Big Three, “once the industrial pride of the nation,” are “declining rapidly in size and influence” and it’s possible they can’t be saved.

This is what automotive legend Brock Yates wrote in 1983."
