I think I’ll check it out tomorrow. Totally want to go sledding on Seneca st exit!
Took the family yesterday. It was ok. It’s a great idea that was pretty poorly executed. Heard tons of people wandering around saying, “I can’t find this, I can’t find that”. The food tent was retarded. Selling tickets at both ends of the line but then having the actual line for food only going one way was a total cluster fuck.
 to the ice maze.
 to Pearl St.
 to a line that seemed to never move for the tubing. We bailed on that pretty quickly.
 to having not a single sign mentioning the pond hockey or how you would get there.
 to so much water/slush. Schedule this for early February or January next year. I just saw on WGRZ that the pond hockey tournament is canceled and will not be rescheduled. Unsafe ice, too much water.
I heard the parking sucked but that’s downtown. We parked at UB and took the train. Maybe organizers could push that option more next year.
I hope they do it again next year and learn a lot from this year.
you guys are funny with the ice maze cheater stuff, its more for kids than adults (did it in 10 minutes without help) anyway and there is a schematic by the ice sculptures lol
2 man luge??? The opposite of hetro?
I was going to go, decided to take the sled out instead. Friends I had that went had the same complaints. Its the first year, hopefully they work out the kinks.
I went, it sucked.
Wow, so much bitching. I thought it was awesome.
Buffalo should have more things like this, but it seems the people of this area are too spoiled to be able to have fun.
It wasn’t the actual event, the weather was crap.
If it had been snowing and not raining I think it wouldve been much better
I’m going to agree with you on all your  and  except for the scheduling in early Feb / late January. I think they wanted to tie in with the pond hockey. Having both events the same weekend got a lot more people to both. If anything, then move both events back, if possible.
Pearl Street was great for this too since it’s huge and could accomidate.
The tubing was on my to do list, but the line was huge and it looked like they weren’t going very far or fast down the ramp.
They did need more signs up saying where everything was. I saw a few signs they had made up sitting on piles on top of trucks or tents that never got put out. I had a good idea where things were since I checked out their site and researched things I wanted to check out. But random placement of posters with events schedule and locations would have been a huge help.
I didn’t see the horse buggy rides they were giving to and from both events.
Lines needed ropes or some sort of order. I waited in the zig zag line for the maze, but people were able to go in to the maze exit, or cut right into the maze.
The food tent was terribly set up. It should have been bigger and not crammed in between a fence and the beer tent. Selling tickets at both sides was fail. Food prices were at least realistic.
I honestly don’t think they expected this many people to show up. I think they got overwhelmed. And they could have had more volunteers. I’m planning on volunteering for 2011 since an event like this is great for the area. If you went and didn’t enjoy it, then you don’t know how to have fun.
Wow. Seemed like a lot of unnecessary back and forth action. LOL
When I said move the date I definitely meant for both the festival and the pond hockey. These events should always be on the same weekend. After poor conditions Sat and having to cancel Sun entirely I really doubt the pond hockey people will schedule this late again anyway.
Got ya. In that case, I agree with you.
I had a really good time here, we spent most of our time at pearl st though. I think I broke my wrist though…
Pearl St.'s basement bar is amazing! I wish there were more places like that in the area. Felt like I was on the set of Cheers or something
I need to check out the basement. I never got around to it.
On another note, I didn’t get fired this morning due to my antics this weekend
theres a bar in the basement? why was i not informed of this?
I was just pumped that I managed to carry 5 beers at pearl st with it mobbed without spilling any. I felt like the Bud commercial.
The Pearl Street Deli opened up over the weekend too, right?
Has anyone gone for lunch yet?
wat? elaborate.
where were you when we got french fries down there!? om nom nom
