Well I got a couple friends coming from Detroit to Buffalo for a weekend and want to show them the sights and also the taste of Buffalo. Probably the weekend of the Nov 6th.
Here is what I am thinking so far in no order:
Falls / Clifton Hill
Cider Mill / Glenn Falls
Anderson’s for beef on weck and loganberry
Duff’s for wings or maybe La Nova for pizza and wings
Albright Knox art gallery
I got some more ideas but figured I would see what you guys would add.
Don’t go to Anderson’s for beef on weck, go to Kelly’s Korner or Vizzi’s. Anderson’s is big on price and small on meat.
Is there a Bills home game that weekend?
The Anderson’s are family friends plus it is close to Glen Falls if we do the Williamsville location.
I agree that other places might be more of an authentic sandwich though.
Bills are on a bye and the Sabres home game is Friday at 7:30 and we won’t get in until after midnight friday night.
There certainly are enough nice areas around Detroit to make it look appealing, its just after you live there you really start to see its true side.
(Used to live in Detroit so I’m allowed to make fun of it)
Edit: Oh and make sure to take them down any highway or side street and show them how it is possible to build a road in a northern climate that isn’t full of Neon sized potholes every 10 feet. And that we are allowed to make left hand turns
Buffalo Zoo, especially the new rain forest exhibit.
Niagara Jet Boats have those covered boats for doing the jet boat ride when it’s not summer.
Buffalo Waterfront/Naval Park
Lots of great parks. A few favs listed in order of distance… Delaware Park, Chestnut Ridge, Letchworth.
Buy a really cheap Audi, roll it on it’s roof at Tifft, leave it there. Always a good time but will get you banned on NYSpeed.
One thing you can’t Sass buffalo for is the selection and quality of food.
I don’t know about the Zoo though Jay. They really don’t keep it maintained like they used to, and alot of the times most of the animals aren’t even out. the rain forest exhibit is pretty cool though.
