Maybe it someone renamed this section projects instead of builds people would have lower expectations.
I like pointless builds. It makes the ones where shit is ACTUALLY getting done way more interesting.
haha I don’t disagree with his thread. I don’t mind seeing what people are doing even if it isn’t a “build” as he is right that we all started somewhere. I just couldn’t resist pointing that out.
So you enjoy 7+ pages about installing a “downpipe”?
Man I feel like france on this one. Part of me says, damn let the guy put parts on his car, the other part says dont piss people off and youll be fine. Cant we all just get along?
AAAAaaaaand your DAD
I just took an angle grinder and blacked out for a bit on a $500 70’s Honda. Do I count?
I kept checking expecting DP, and it was the wrong DP, back to RedTube…
I feel many people post what they’re building as a sense of accomplishment for their efforts, no matter what they might be. I certainly don’t expect everyone to appreciate it have interest on what I may be doing, whether it’s vehicle related or otherwise. I feel if you enjoy it, fine. If not, say what you like, and I’ll agree ir disagree with you. To not share as a result of those who do not appreciate or take away value is a sad decision, and detrimental to those who do. Wish you’d change your mind. Hope I’m not on your list.
I think the problem is that NYSPEED has gone from Men to boys lately and by boys I mean little girls. Grow a set and if you are going to make a stupid shitty “build” thread, expect to have people who disagree with what you do and your friends will back you up when the shit gets deep. Welcome to the internet.
I am really on the fence here…part of me says the “builds” section should be for things more than just bolting on some simple I/H/E mods and that maybe there should be an additional section for progress logs on project cars… That or the section should be changed to “Projects” as 95dime suggests, and then everything can go in there, just people doing major builds can put “build” in their title…
But to be honest, a lot of times the people getting bashed are getting bashed because of their previous asshattery and/or pure stupidity around here.
95dime, I really wish you wouldn’t be so harsh as to quit posting progress on your builds…the whole point of that section was to highlight really stellar DIY projects such as yours, I really hope you change your mind because I think the high quality builds are what will enrich this forum and it’s users, as well as serve as inspiration and material for learning for some of the newbs and such.
It’s entertaining if the section was called “members cars” or “projects” the expectations would be lower and less stupid comments.
builds usually implies fabrication
The Civic Si thread was cool but it was 5 pages debating the quality of eBay parts :tif: if someone wants to build a bolt on civic rock on and post up pics/details. It would be cool if all build/whatever threads could be moderated by the thread creator to keep them on topic and relevant to the work.
This is why I own a Miata.

Also, you take our fucking karma away…
You take our Random JB away…
You BAN JUST KARTER…
NO WONDER WHY EVERYONE IS SO FUCKING BITCHY!!!
One thing to note, who the fuck cares what the section of the forum is called? Is changing the name of the section going to stop the hate? I highly doubt that. Nothing will ever stop Internet flame wars.
If you want to post on the Internet about anything (especially your original content) then fucking be prepared for a few trolls/flamers. It will happen.
There should be constructive criticism for both sides of this equation.
Build thread starters:
Don’t create a build thread if you’re just replacing a few parts. That’s just kind of silly. But when posting up a thread, do it with detail and cohesiveness so that people can involve themselves in your progress and ask relevant questions.
Build thread haters:
I say this is a good filter. If we don’t do a little bashing on shitty threads, the quality will continue to decline.
However, we all need to understand that everyone has a different level of experience and will therefore yield a different level of ‘build’ quality. The more experienced users should be helping to direct these people instead of just outright bashing with ZERO value in their posts.
One last thing: stop being pussies. Faggots. <3
LOL.
Are you really upset by the quality of “build” threads…
I’m with cougarspeed as to why I don’t have “build” threads.
If someone wants to make a build thread about them bolting on coils and wheels and an intake - GREAT!
You want custom fab and one off bullshit? I doubt NYspeed is the place.
All I did was replace parts on the miata…?
lol. You know what I mean!
Edited to say ‘a few parts’.
I do!
But some would say it wasn’t a “build”
In some aspects, I agree with that point.
I didn’t fabricate much for that car although I’m fine with paying the premium for R&D parts nor do I feel like dedicating time and effort in designing things like subframes (not to mention I’m shit at welding)
Build section
Bought section
Bolt on section
SOLVED
lol.
Or everyone empties the sand out of their vaginas?
Looks like you never read this thread: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?223835-High-Profile-High-End-Build-Threads-More-User-Control
I know it’s possible to miss things, but it happens to be sticky at the top of this forum and we implemented it in 2011.
