To the OP:
This forum is likely never going to become much more than it already is. It is not brand/make specific. It is hardly restricted. But most importantly, it is geographically a locally based forum (more or less), and with that comes favoritism, cliques, and pretty intense bashings here and there. With that, you are going to have the stuff you see around here. It’s going to be really pathetic at times, and really funny at times, bec. there is no one that is really going to step in and “check” it too hard.
I have only been on 4 forums in my life. LotusTalk, MR2OC, NYSpeed, and UBRF. The way the first 2 are run are night and day different from the last 2. And there are benefits and drawbacks to both. I’m sure you already knew this, but it seems you do not want to accept it.
This forum has it’s place. There are things (and members) here that I do not particularly care for, and there are some pretty great things going on too, with the meets, track days, etc. Josh and crew have done a great job with that stuff, and I tip my hat to them. Also, it often brings a good laugh here and there, as people around here always take it to that next level. I have a pretty sick sense of humor, and relish in those laughs from time to time…life is already hard enough…
My advice is to appreciate it, and use it for what it is (or don’t, I suppose), and to not get caught/riled up in the bullshit, etc. It has always been this way, and it is unlikely to ever change from that.
I dig where you’re coming from, but that’s really too bad. I genuinely enjoyed seeing that build.
The only build thread on the build page that really went to shit was that Civic Si one.
Generally people are helpful I think some people get frustrated because people are very opinionated and can’t handle any criticism. It might be a useful skill in life to be able to take criticism and and roll with it and do whatever makes you happy.

A lot of people’s attitudes on here suck, but this is nothing new. Oh well.
My first real car project ever was scratch building a turbo kit for a maxima.
Also to note: lotustalk had the worst members of any forum I have ever been on. Ever.
I’d also like to add that I have never deleted a comment I didn’t like anywhere on the Internet, whether it be on a build thread or FB or anywhere.
Two reasons:
- my work stands for itself
- I learned a long time ago you have to have a thick thick skin in order to post anything on the Internet. Even awesome shit will have a hater somewhere.
29,000 attempts at putting something out there would certainly lead to 1 or 2 differences of opinion
