This is actually part of a bill that passed in 2006. However, now that the count down to the end of the Bush era is <12 months, a lot of people are wondering what the real implications of that bill will be.
Too bad the person occupying that office doesn’t follow the same ethics and beliefs.
Here is my biggest complaint: The Bush administation snubs everything that the original founders of our country setup in the Constitution. The 3 branch system of government was designed to limit the power of any single branch, but with the ability ( and use as seen during the bush administration ) to nominate the Judicial branch and get approved by a single party controlled ( who is headed by the President ) Congress, there is nothing outside the reach of establishing as law anything the President desires ( read Patriot Act ) regardless if its for the good of the country, its citizens, or his own agenda/party needs. When the judicial branch steps up, he pushes a bill that says “what we do is ok but what they do is not”. This is the same approach with gay marriage.
And don’t get me started on the seperation of Church and State. The intent was to protect the Government from the justification based on Religion as it is to protect the Citizens form persecution or manifestation of Government for or against any specific religion. Yet he pushes bans to gay marriage as a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT because his religion believes homesexuality is a sin. Fuck, every time he says “God told me that I would be president” it gives me a shiver up my spine.
